I just watched the neighbor attempt to parallel park on the street for 10 minutes. He backed into the other neighbors truck no less than 4 times.
I practiced parallel parking twice before I took my test for my license. I did it correctly but try to avoid parallel parking now if at all possible haha. I'm just not confident doing it. But I can say I've never back into a car in the process! DHs car has a rear camera so I can nail it using that. I think sometimes my depth perception throws me off and I get too nervous. I'll get out of the car and I'll still have like 6 feet but I feel like I'm about to hit the car!
I thought DH had opened the card I got him for our anniversary already and was sad because we were going to open them today a day late because of work schedules. I looked over and it's still unopened... He just didn't use the envelope and we got each other the same card... I can't wait til he wakes up
Maybe this is an FFC, but A's first birthday probably won't involve much more than a homemade cake, a fun family activity, and maybe one present to enjoy ripping the paper off!
@amdecker1016 do you have the theme decided?? If I could be a party / event planner for a living I would!!! I made these for my nieces 1st and planned the whole thing, so naturally Kayleigh's is going to be even more organized and awesome I'm excited!!!
I'm thinking a pink and yellow lemonade theme. I want my husband to make a lemonade stand. That's probably about as over-the-top as I would do it though...
@pepperedmoth For DD1s first birthday she got a cupcake and a couple of wooden puzzles. This year we upped the ante and baked a whole cake and she got roller skates. I think over-the-top parties for babies are kind of silly. Until she has friends to invite over we'll probably keep doing it this way.
Relieved I'm not the only one!
One thing I do want to do (and still haven't) is plant a tree for him, then every year tie his present(s) to the branches for him to run out and find!
Geographic Information Systems (for example, remote sensing). My BS is in anthropology/archaeology, and I have a minor in geology. GIS makes a lot of sense, it interests me, and I can't believe it didn't occur to me already.
I just wonder if I am totally loony for thinking I can go to school right now.
Haha, that's the acronym I'm familiar with (MH has a geology degree and one of my good friends has a PhD in GIS and geoinformatics) but it's such a niche field and I thought you were in library science so I thought you MUST mean something else!
It's a good field. Has jobs. Interesting, too! Go for it!
Saturday I ran to a bridal shower, baby shower, then family BBQ. Sunday we drove 2.5 hours to a grad party, 2.5 back, then hung out at my bosses house for a clay shooting party. I have not been able to get bumping time in.
Also, I go back to work tomorrow so my bumping time will decrease even more!
DS1 is about to turn 6 in two weeks. I have nothing planned for his birthday. I'm not even sure he really has any friends at school to invite. We might do a pizza party at the local parlor with a play area or we might just have a little get together at my parents. All I know for sure is that there will be cake.
Married 11/23/11, TTC starting 10/12, BFP#1 11/30/12, Adoption of stepson finalized 03/19/13,Loss of our daughter at 20w4d due to incompetent cervix 03/27/13, BFP#2 06/28/13, DS2 born 3/1/14.
I almost went outside and asked if he needed help, but I already took my bra off so stepping outside wasn't an option. @pepperedmoth
I found it extra hilarious because women get such a bad rap for being "terrible drivers," yet this guy couldn't even parallel park and there wasn't even a car in front of him! He had plenty of room to pull forward and back up.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has thought of ideas for the first birthday party. I haven't starting pinning anything yet but I've thought of a few themes I like
I confess that I have a whole Pinterest board of 1st birthday ideas

My pins.
@amdecker1016 great minds really do think alike... My Pinterest board:
Guise, I had unprotected sex 2 days ago and now I feel nauseous. Could I be preggo?!?1! pLeAsE halp!!!!
PS. If you don't give me dramz soon I'm ditching you all for TTGP.
Dude, come join us. Drama up the wazoo over there.
OMG u guizzzzzzze last night after months and months of begging, I FINALLY got MH on board with the idea of kid #2!!!
I am sooooooooo excited!
I will not be joining you any time soon though. :-( I want to VBAC and need to wait at least 18 months to TTC per my OB.
Also I am going to XP my BFM here because I really do want advice on it.
My SIL still hasn't come to meet LO, and it's starting to hurt MH's feelings.
I was laughing over it until I realized he was upset, and now I am upset for him.
His sister lives maybe 5 hours away by car. My parents, who live 4 hours away, and his parents, who live over 8 hours away, have both visited multiple times. One of my sisters flew in from across the country to meet her nephew; my other sister flew in from CHINA to meet him.
Last night she texted him back after he had invited her YET AGAIN to come visit, and she said she didn't have a long weekend coming up for a while, she had a lot of other plans, and didn't know when she would make it.
Of all my in laws she's the one with whom my relationship is most strained, so I don't think there is a tactful way I can directly intervene here....maybe call my MIL? I dunno. WWM14 do? MH has sad puppy eyes.
@pepperedmoth, SILs are tough. My SIL lived in the same town when DS1 was born and she only saw him when their parents came to visit. It's really hurtful to my DH too, especially since his family used to be pretty close. If you have a good relationship with his parents I would maybe try finding a subtle way of letting them know how he feels. Sorry, I know that's not all that helpful. Hope you can figure something out!
Hooray @pepperedmoth! We're going to start trying in about 16 months too (18 between pregnancies) so I'm eligible for VBAC. Maybe we can be board buddies again with our possible #2s!
1. I can parallel park. Where I grew up most shopping didn't have parking lots. It was all street parking, therefore parallel.
2. No extravagant birthday parties here for 1st for sure. Just immediate family and grandparents if they want to come. Maybe a cake (probably cupcakes - because they are single serve sizes). Nothing fancy until 3rd, 4th...somewhere around then.
3. @mndynitetragdy I have always hated registries. Probably because when I was younger and invited to showers (wedding or baby) there was never anything on them that was in my price range. I always bought practical, plus a cute item if I could afford it. Even now that I can afford more, I might not get registry stuff either. ** I haven't been invited to any showers in about 6 or 7 years.
I just tried on my pre pregnancy clothes that have been packed away for 2 years. (Remember, DS1 is just 18 months).
I see potential!!! I may fit into a few of the pants soon if I can lose 2-4 inches off my hips/waist. I will wear whatever shirts I can. Most were a bit loose, but they are tight now because I went from A cups to D/DDs. I will just toss any that get stretched out. I need clothes NOW, I hate shopping, and they won't look good in another year anyhow.
@daisycat11@bunnyfungo I am somewhat intimidated by the fact that there are 7 pages arguing about whether to use the confessional for callouts.
Actually, I am weirded out by the fact that the confessional exists in the first place . . . AND by the fact that there is such a burning need to do callouts over there!
Also, @dotgirl2, who is Missy and why is she trolling Parenting with two AEs?
TB is a big scary world outside of M14 and I need you to hold my hand!
@tallash we do plan to visit her. It's more MH's feelings about it, kwim? He is being gracious about the whole thing....I should encourage him to tell her how he feels. I think he thought he WAS clear and maybe that's the problem. I think if she can just acknowledge that he feels hurt and say sorry and make plans WITH us for when we visit instead of saying, "eh, maybe you can drop by," then he would feel better.
On this confessional - is this like the bump-wide callout tumblr from back in the day? It got shut down so many times. It was amazing. Was anyone else around then?
@WoodShopGirl I know you didn't ask me but I have a reusable applecheeks swim diaper that fit my DD since she was just under 11 pounds. It has adjustable snaps and she's on the second tightest snaps (hope that makes sense?!).
I'm like 150 posts behind but can't catch up quite yet. Just wanted to update everyone. Went to the wound center to see my doctor for a follow up after my ER visit. He discovered that my original 7cm deep tunnel had actually healed a little bit in the middle (imagine a door right in the middle of the tunnel). So the back area was like a trapped pocket that filled up w fluid and became infected. With a few shots of lidocaine (only helped a little) he went in and cut that part open... Fml. It hurt worse than I ever imagined. But now we know why the sudden pain. Back to a 7cm tunnel... Back to the usual packing daily... Can't wait for this to be done.
He thinks my nurses weren't packing it all the way to the back, hence why it closed in the middle. Glad I complained about my previous nurse (and requested a new one). I think she was doing a shitty job.
So that's that. Still hurts. On bactrim (antibiotic), percocets, and a probiotic.
@SomersIsles I'm glad you got it figured out, but holy crap I can't believe you're basically starting over again I hope your new nurse does a better job with the packing and you start healing properly!
If you have something important to tell us, PLEASE remember to post it in this thread too. I pretty much only read this one. And if it weren't for a few people mentioning it, I wouldn't know about @Cmmo14's period. And that's very very important info!!!!!!!
Seconded. No important life events without reporting to randomest thread. Let it be decreed. Broohaha.

@bunnyfungo I'm jealous that you're getting sex. My husband is too tired.

I usually see NTNA (avoiding).

Hmmmm mm.
Can You Take Imodium While Breastfeeding???
No Idea Why Every First Letter Is Capitalized. I'm On The App And I Can't Fix It!
Check out my blog: http://blondheimtwins.blogspot.com/
The only ones I could find start at 16 lbs and they are huge on A.
Unfortunately he was not as enthusiastic to go swimming this past weekend.
Eta - wait it was postsecret.

@SomersIsles that really sucks. So sorry. Um, at least it's figured out? Maybe? I hope so!
@dotgirl2 thank you for the explanation!
@FarmBoysWife hope this gets fixed SOON.
