Sometimes I pleasantly forget that my husband has neurological issues. Mainly because he hides it very well, until he can't anymore. These times are few and far in between, that I know of, anyhow. Remember when I told you that he had lost his memory but didn't forget about me and blah blah blah...? The left side of his brain was dead for about 8 months. This is because of numerous head injuries and failing to report the fact that he was seizing out repeatedly for a week.

So here we are, new baby and about to buy a house, and today, I watched him look at something next to him that wasn't even there and then go somewhere else (mentally) for about 5 minutes. It was really scary.
He was supposed to go back to work after the baby was born, but that got pushed off until after we move because the house was sold. I know now that he can never go back to fishing because he needs to be mentally with it. He said he can get a job as a fork lift driver and it will be fine. Right now, we are living off of savings and his sold land money. I am buying our new house outright with the sales from my grandmother's house that is under contract right now. I also earn a residual income every month from a commercial property that I had inherited. It's not a lot because I am just a partner, but it pays the rent right now and will pay our taxes and bills and part of our grocery bills when we get a house.
I KNOW that I am better off than some other people right now, but I still worry about the future of our family and wonder how long I will kid myself about how we will survive in the future.
Have y'all thought about social security disability for yh? I am sorry that you guys are going through this it's scary when your family has health problems.

  • I'm sorry @LW78‌ brain injuries are so hard. DH suffered one from a car accident. It's scary and everyone feels helpless. Neurofeedback really really helped my DH, maybe look into it for your DH (eeginfo.com).

  • @LW78‌ - I'm so sorry your family is having to deal with this. Hugs!

@babycaps‌ @Jt7dreamz‌ - doing the same things here. I tried on all my work clothes to see where I was at and then went shopping last weekend, depressing. Sooome of my clothes fit, although not the same; I only bought a few things for what I'm hoping is a brief transition period. I have to wear business clothes, suits and such, to work so there's only so much wiggle room :-/

He isn't eligible for that yet. He has to be an American Resident for at least 5 years for benefits. He just got his residency this year.

Well that just sucks, I am sorry.
  • @chphotomama thank you :) and @wisconsincheese12 I am not sure if it is a word or not. Maybe the correct term is "more shitty"? Either way, they suck haha. And thank you :)

  • @kaking78‌ happy anniversary!

@Laura8388‌ hope Jodi has a safe trip back to oz and this month flies for you.
And that doll is seriously creepy.

@LW78‌ sorry your H is dealing with this. Do you notice his symptoms worsening? If they are then maybe insurance will pay for some therapy? Have you guys talked about future plans?

I'm so glad I'm going back to work in June and I can wear dresses for 3 months. Hopefully by the fall I can fit in pants. Not sure what I would do if I had a baby in the winter.

  • @NorthernLghts‌ They won't really do anything for broken ribs anymore, except maybe prescribe you some good pain killers. DH fractured 2 a couple years back and got some good drugs! Hope you feel better!

  • @northrnlights I try to be super careful not to give medical advice about specific situations (I don't mind generalities, like "children should be vaccinated!!!" nor do I mind explaining concepts)

My official answer is that chest pain should always be evaluated in person by a pro. If it IS broken ribs there's not much to be done, it's true, but it could be other things too!

@Laura8388‌ yup we do that! I like to put him facedown on a cloth on the grass to air out his bum.

  • My poor kiddo (the almost 2 yr old) is sick. Spent all morning at the urgent care clinic with her - don't know what's causing her fever. We ruled out strep and ear infections, so that's good anyway.  Poor thing is burning up.  I'm super worried about DD2 getting sick now.  Dr's advice?  Keep them apart.  Yeah, thanks for that pearl of wisdom.  I hope her fever breaks for good tonight!

I just watched the neighbor attempt to parallel park on the street for 10 minutes. He backed into the other neighbors truck no less than 4 times.
That's a special kind of talent.

Reborns - someone posted info on my other BMB a year or so ago.

Apparently they are popular with some women/families that had losses, whether that was a stillborn baby, or an infant who passed away at a young age.
Grandmothers also order them - for whatever reason...

You can have them custom made to look like your baby, or get one pre-fabricated.
They are lifelike in that they are actual size and weight of a true child. (Not like an average doll that weighs a pound or two and wouldn't even fit into newborn clothes properly)

Creepy to some people, a source of comfort to others.
  • @scooter028‌
    I know, right??
That's EXACTLY what I thought when I read about them for the first time.

Flowers in The Attic, or The Cutler Family Series.
(I haven't read all of the various series', but those two definitely sound like they'd fit...)

This makes me wicked smug because parallel parking is one of my totally random skills and I can just about always nail it on the first try.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

haha me too. Probably because when I was learning to drive, my dad made a parallel parking spot in the driveway (it was winter, so some stakes in the ground with ribbon outlining a spot). I practiced doing it for at least an hour. Maybe two.

I never learned how to parallel park. It's not required for the driving test in FL, so that would be me bumper bumping ;)
  • I just tentatively planned mia's birthday party...

Not going to buy anything for it, but pinning away!

My luck she'll be adamant for minnie or sleeping beauty. Oh well!

Sophie loves her glow-seahorse so much that I've planned an entire under-the-sea party in my mind. I need to be around grown up people again soon...
Marlena's nursery is mermaids and has an under the sea theme which I plan to do for her birthday, too! I may already have started a Pinterest board to plan - 10 months isn't too soon to get a jump on it, right? ;)
Hahathats hilarious because I just got a magazine in the mail last week with all 1st bday theme stuff. I think they mailed it a little soon but I already can't decide what theme to do, I have changed my mind a zillion times. 9 months to make a decision
We got that too, like a month ago.

I may go to party city just to see if there is anything cute. I am a planner and a perfectionist. Its going to take me nine months to get everything....

I practiced parallel parking twice before I took my test for my license. I did it correctly but try to avoid parallel parking now if at all possible haha. I'm just not confident doing it. But I can say I've never back into a car in the process!
DHs car has a rear camera so I can nail it using that. I think sometimes my depth perception throws me off and I get too nervous. I'll get out of the car and I'll still have like 6 feet but I'm about to hit the car!
