The Gear Dump - Bittersweet.

I just listed all the gently used baby gear we no longer need. All used on 2 baby girls in short order.

It is bittersweet to see it go. It means the babies are growing up and the "making babies" days are over and that makes me both happy and sad, but we desperately need the room and the storage space.

Goodbye swings, bouncer, exersaucer, bumbo, and RNP. I couldn't have done it with out you. Well maybe I could have done it without you bumbo. You are kind of stupid. But RNP and swings - I got nothin' but love for you baby.

Tomorrow I will sort through baby clothes and cry a little. Today my little C stood up on her own two feet without holding onto anything for about 10 seconds.
It all happened so fast. I can't believe it is over. My happys and sads are too close together.

Re: The Gear Dump - Bittersweet.

  • Yup. I'm right there. We've slowly been selling all that stuff too. Bouncer, bumbo, big high chair and a bunch of other stuff just sold this week

Tonight I put all the clothes together by size and listed in big lots on Craigslist. I remember my boys wearing all those items and shocked how small the stuff seems.

Keep thinking maybe just ONE more baby...and then I snap out of it!

  • Same here. It's hard to let go. I have to remind myself that our family is complete and we have so much to look forward to. My big starts kindergarten in September, which is so exciting, but bittersweet. These have been the most challenging and rewarding years of my life!
  • I know how you feel! I have a huge bag of clothes to take to donate, her swing went a month ago to our friends, and she is officially in a big girl car seat (I know that part sound silly because many of the Los have been on their for a while). It's crazy how in less than a year our newborns are becoming little people. :(

  • I have 2 boxes for clothes...ones she only wore once or never and hold no emotional tie, then I have a box of clothes I just cannot part with...Special jammies, outfits from special memories...I hope that one day I will need them again. The 2nd box I plan to get some money for

As for the gear...We loved out Bumbo, and she only just outgrew it(I have an itty bitty). My MIL found another one, different company, but bigger seat...Emma loves it still. So the old one is in the closet, along with the swing, and her snuggle nest from our cosleeping days. I have an extra carseat I will try and sell. It has a clean history. Otherwise, I am keeping it until we know for sure we are done..

My heart breaks reading these posts. I'm not nearly ready for the purging of baby things.

I guess I'm with @janneann1127‌ it's a chapter that stings a little to close, but I welcome the new adventures ahead. I like the baby stage but ADORE the little kid stage. Just my "glass half full" way of looking at it.

But man everytime someone comes to pick up something from my house @KatieS7‌ I get a little misty for a minute after the item leaves the house!!!

  • The day I broke down the bouncy for storage I cried! We aren't selling but just packing it away was enough. We are selling out swing, we bought it used to begin with and don't have the space. Same with the bassinet. I'll definitely cry then. :(

  • We are starting this too. We might have another in a few years but have no storage so things must go. LO is growing up too fast sometimes.
  • Like @HauntedRadio‌ I'm just packing things away at this point. If baby #2 is a boy I'll get rid of most of the clothing then. All of our big things are neutral. I do want to find someone to make a quilt from my favs of her clothes. I just have No idea where to even look. I guess etsy?

I lucked out. My mother in law offered to make a quilt for me. Thank goodness. I just couldn't let them go.

  • See I'm still on the fence about having a third LO (final decision will come after #2) so I'm not letting ANYTHING go.
Pissed of my sister when she had a girl and I wouldn't give her any of LOs clothes. Lol
