I am not a superstitious person whatsoever, but years ago (before I was married or even thinking about having kids), my cousin did the test on me, and it came back girl, boy, girl. I had a girl, and now the joke among my friends is that the next boy and girl will be twins, since there are studies saying that the older you are, the chances are higher to have multiples. Whatever the case may be, every person that I have done this test on over the years has ended up being 100% accurate. My aunt, who has 6 children, did it, and it came out in the exact order of all of them. And my other cousin, that has no kids, the string didn't move at all. Like I said, I'm pretty skeptic about psychics and all that kind of stuff, but when I see this coming true before my very eyes, it's hard to doubt it. So...aside from the twins, I'll keep you guys updated on whether this one is a boy and the string is correct!

There are different variations on what you use, one way is to tie your wedding band to a string and hold it over your belly. But I just use a needle & thread (or you can tie it to a pencil). You hold the needle steady over your wrist, and the string will move side to side if it's a boy, and in a circle if it's a girl. It will go in the order of all your children, so if you already have a girl, for example, it will start with a circle, and proceed on with the genders of all your other children till it stops completely. If any of you try it, let me know what the outcome is!
As for the losses, in my case, it has never accounted for them. But my aunt that I mentioned, actually had 7 kids, but the first one died as a baby, and it did count that one. My BFF has had 2 m/c's and has 2 children...and it shows 2 kids for her.
Totally! I've said more than once in my replies...IT'S JUST FOR FUN! And, in my experience, it has been 100% accurate, so I think it's kinda cool. Thought I'd share with those who weren't familiar with it and wanted to try it to see if it came out right. Guess some girls just don't wanna have fun
BTW, @WillCMyInk...I'm clueless, but what is FFS & A/S?
#1) Quoting or tagging is very useful so that people know who and/or what you are referring to.
#2) I'm glad that some of you are so caught up in OWT that you'd like to waste your time clucking about it all day, but personally I find it annoying. What I find more annoying is the 10+ threads that are already in existence on this board about OWT, yet everyone finds the need to post new ones. If you want to have one thread dedicated to OWT, then have at it, but when I have to see it day in and day out I feel obligated to say something about it.
#3) If I keep ignoring stupid threads then this will become Babycenter or some other annoying board like that. I didn't join those boards for a reason.

@Beckyboo71, maybe you haven't checked out the wonderful tool that I put together for those new to the board. Check out the post "New? Click here first!" and take a mosey on over to our January 2015 blog. There is a tab just for abbreviations that will help you better understand the lingo on The Bump.
ETA: Link to make it even easier for you to find the thread mentioned above.

I'm still not understanding why you click on the topic, then waste YOUR time commenting on it. There are plenty of topics that, just from the subject line don't interest or pertain to me, so I scroll down. But if others find this type if thing fun, why do feel the need to belittle us for taking part?dx: Unexplained IF

@Beckyboo71, please see items #2 and #3 on my list for the answer to your last question. I'm not sure if you frequented any other boards on TB prior to joining this BMB, but this is how I was introduced to TB.
Science and facts are coveted much more than "fun OWT" on TB in general. If all we cared about were the fun OWT everyone would be totes preggers and all those BFNs would mean nothing.
@Beckyboo71 A/S is anatomy scan. And FFS "For Fuck Sake"
I also did it on my mom, who has been done having babies for 25 years. And it was correct.
Keep me posted...I want to see if it is correctAs for the the abbreviations page there is a fair few that are not on there. All of the big ones of course are, but I remember several times I went to check for one and it wasn't there. Of course I can't think of any at the moment.
