NBR: We have a stinky little problem...

Guys, we have skunks.

A couple of weeks ago, a skunk sprayed the siding right next to our side door in the middle of the night. We figured it had gotten in a fight with one of the many wandering neighbor cats, cleaned it off, NBD. Gross, but whatever.

Kept smelling eu de skunk. Landlord's daughter mentioned seeing skunks in the neighborhood all the time. Great. Bought moth balls, chucked em under the deck (right next to the door) and in all of the window wells. DH had put a brick in front of the potential entry point and the brick moved so something was clearly living there.

Well, tonight, I heard squeaking noises around sundown and was like, "what kind of bird is that? Or is it squirrels?" Nope.

Skunk babies. Like, I'm about 95% sure a skunk mama came and birthed her stinky little skunk babies under the deck this evening. Gee, thanks. Oh, and we can hear them very, VERY clearly from our finished basement just squeaking around under the deck. Fantastic.

No real point to this since we're going to seek professional help tomorrow, but can I get a big EWWWW?! I hope no one gets sprayed or bitten.

    That a big thumbs down! On the bright side skunk babies are probably adorable!! Here's hoping the professionals can solve the problem quickly.

    my parents had a skunk die under their deck (when i still lived there) the house and everything in it reeked of skunk.....like our clothes our hair....i'd be sitting at work and smell something then realize it was me! ugh! it was the worst!

My genius father had the brilliant idea to take care of it himself, so he paved over the hole...but the skunks were still inside. I got sent home from school for smelling so offensive. I was then known as a smelly for the remainder of 6th grade. Good luck to you! Call a professional.
    I got to stay home from school in high school because I stank like skunk! For the rest of the year, every time I opened my locker it smelled like skunk. Luckily this was the 90's and everyone was obsessed with Bath and Body Works body spray.

    Haha, thanks everyone! Yeah, we don't want the babies to be abandoned under there so we are certainly calling the pros. ;-) Sorry to everyone who stank!
