Reid went through a distinct Pterodactyl screaming phase.  One of the teachers at his DC (not his) said if she had a kid that screamed like that she'd put him up for adoption. She was just jealous because my kid is cuter than hers ;).

    Def TP!!!!

    "What's wrong with his chin?"

Said by my FIL about an hour after I birthed DS. FTR, there is nothing wrong with his chin.

I've gotten the "she can stand to skip a meal or two" comment. Or she's been called Michelin baby
  • Said by my father - "Judging by that big pimple on her face, she's obviously going to take after her mother."  I have struggled with skin problems since I was 13 and while it is a lot better now, my skin in never totally clear.  My family knows I'm sensitive about it and I was already concerned that my 5-month old had such a large pimple on her face.  I tried to laugh it off but I was really annoyed.

Also, "I hate when people have big bows in their kids hair"
    ::me standing there holding my child with a big bow in her hair;;
In that situation I think I would say "yeah me too" just to see their reaction! FTR I LOVE bows on girls!

  • "He's still bald, huh?"

More than one person has said this.  It makes me stabby.

Well, Rogaine is so expensive. Kwim? ;-) My close girlfriend had a little girl without a bit of hair and didn't really have much of anything until she was almost two. She was freaking adorable.
I think he is adorable with the amount of hair he has and his daddy's hairline, but then again he is my child.

"Well you're just a little bitchy bitch aren't you" talking to my very fussy LO.
And me thinking stab Stab STAB!!!

Am I missing something? Or did someone call your baby a bitch? And lived to tell the tale?
Not missing a thing. It has happened numerous times. SOs mother said it. I was in shock when she said it because that is not like her at all. She hates the word. I flipped out on my poor SO after their visit. He was dumbfounded too. It has happened again an I calmly say she is just tired or she's a baby, it's normal. Ugh. Really I want to loose my shit on her.

My grandma (you know, the one who thinks my kids will go to hell if they're not baptized), called Amelia a dope head when she was withdrawling from all the meds after her surgeries.

    "Poor little dope head. "
    *Click* I hung up.

People are idiots. All of them.

My mouth just dropped open! WTF is wrong with this lady?

Well she also says "colored people" so there's that. She can be sweet, but can also be a complete idiot as well.

Amelia has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She has had 3 open heart surgeries, 1 g-tube surgery, and one tracheostomy. She is the strongest, most precious little fighter.

Omg! That's crazy! My grandmother once told me she prays every night that my brother won't burn in Hell because he's gay.

Maybe this should have been my FFFC but she was a mean and rotten woman and I don't miss her at all since she passed.

  • At least she didn't come out dark like her dad! Friends & family members said this a lot when she was born. Some woman even told me I can't wait to see what color she comes out. I told her who cares she'll still be loved regardless

Also she says, "he's too cute. Really, it's going to be hard to keep him humble. I don't want him to end up like cousin C"......cousin C is a recovering coke addict.....are you fucking kidding me????

    OMG!
  • People constantly assume E is a boy when we're out in public because of her royal blue stroller system.  Nevermind the girly clothes she's wearing.  Blue stroller means boy, apparently.
we have a blue/turquoise stroller too!  love it!  I don't care for pink, & I hate the assumption that girls should wear it.  I picked a color I would like, lol

"Poor little dope head. " *Click* I hung up. One of my (too) many sil's always says something like "is she turning purple" "she looks blue" "is she okay", every time she is around. So glad we have you around because that pulse ox machine must not be picking up what you're picking up. When Emma was a baby, my cousin said that her thighs looked like a busted can of biscuits. I laughed really hard, because it was true. A different cousin over heard and from that point on, called Emma a fatty. People are idiots. All of them.

"Wow he's a big baby, did you push him out"
Get that a lot. Don't mind people saying he's big but what business is it of theirs if I 'pushed' him out
  • okay I was gonna respond to the ones that especially angered me, but since they ALL are pretty sucky I'm just gonna say a general WTAF to all these people.  This whole thread makes me stabby, lol. and who calls a baby a "bitchy bitch"?? oh HELL no...there would be a TP for sure!

Ooh ooh, love this thread. I was going to make a "sh*$ your in-laws have said" thread a few days ago so this covers it.

DH's Aunt is in her 40s, unmarried with no prospects so she is sort of obsessed with LO (demands a pic of him every day, always wants to come over, etc.)

While I was pregnant she said "all I ask is that I get your baby one weekend a month"

also: "well since you guys don't go to church, when the rapture happens I'll take care of the baby in heaven" WHAT?

Oh and FIL while LO is fussy and needs to take a nap but is fighting it "I think he's outgrown naps"...really?

GMIL: INSISTENT that I give him solids prior to 3 months "I'd cry too if all I got to eat was formula."

I am so shocked by some of these things. I haven't had to deal with anyone saying anything really. I would be floored if someone said only half this shit to me.

  • My husband's aunt told me at a family wedding this past weekend that ds2 was "too cute to be a boy he should have been a girl." Yeah because he is identical to his brother at the same age and was dressed in a polo and shorts. I definitely have TWO boys.

I had all the big items picked out before we knew LO was going to be a boy, so it is all gender neutral and it is colors that I like since I am the one who has to see it all the time :)

  • Ben has a clogged tear duct, I clean it frequently but it can still get a little crust on it occasionally. I don't clean it when out & about unless I have a cloth and water. Anyway...People are ALWAYS pointing out that he has a goopy eye. Total strangers will be like 'what's wrong with his eye'. Grrr'. 2of my kids have had clogged ducts, are they really that uncommon?

I've gotten this too.... but her stroller system is gray.  Also, one day she had on a blue outfit, WITH a blue bow... but apparently that still means boy too.

People must just be dumb then because Ben has a turquoise shark outfit from Gymboree and people always think he's a girl when he wears it. 'How old is she?' HE is 5 months :)
