Sad Story

I was just checking up on my hometown news, and read an article stating that a young mother and her 4 month old baby were inside of their home when it suddenly exploded this morning.  The dad was at work.  The explosion demolished the entire house and broke out windows of several houses in the neighborhood.  The mother passed away, but they found the 4 month old little girl amongst the rubble near the street.  She is in the hospital out of town but expected to be fine.  I feel so bad for the family, especially this baby who will never know her mother.  The poor father is facing having lost his wife, his baby girl being in the hospital, and losing everything they own.  I'm sure they could use thoughts and prayers.

Very sad and very scary. But that's so incredible that the baby survived. I'll be keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.

Yes.  I grew up in that area.  Not in Victoria, but nearby.

  • That's really scary. How did it explode? I'm amazed the baby made it, saddened her mother died.

Last I read they were still investigating the explosion.  I've been moving over the past few days so this is my first time online (briefly) since Tuesday night.

    Very sad, tragic story.
We had something similar happen not far from me a few years ago and everyone assumed it was a meth lab. Turned out it was some kind of issue with the gas lines.

They are doing a very thorough investigation from what I was reading today.  The neighborhood is on lock down and only people who live there can go in and out.  They have experts coming in.  They are using some technology that can somewhat recreate accidents from the debris pattern.  There was also mention that a propane line ran to the house and an agency is checking up on the status of that to make sure that there were no issues with the line.

Regardless of the cause, it is still such a terrible situation for the baby who now is missing one parent and could have been seriously injured herself.

So I asked if it was in Victoria because we know the girl's parents. The explosion was caused by thunder striking the propane tank. It is such a tragic event and my heart breaks for the parents, they are two of the most kind-hearted people I have met.

Yes, I had just heard about the propane tank cause.  It is so terrible.  I'm sorry for her family.  I hope that her little girl is doing well.
