Intro (bedrest, twins, cervix issues...)

Hello everyone,

I am @Manada and my partner is @healz413.  I am carrying our twins and we are 17w6d pregnant now.   We just got back from our first meeting with the MFM/Twins specialist and what we've grasped from that visit is that we have, in a matter of days, gone from the "lowest risk for twin pregnancies" to the "very high risk" category.

We had an episode on Friday that featured a bleed and left us in L&D with a short (1.9cm), funnelling, and opening cervix.   That was very scary, and I've been on bedrest ever since.   Today we found out that I'm on bedrest for the foreseeable future, and we are in twice a week for at least the next month or so for cervix checks and scans.

Thankfully -- the cervix was closed and longer today, and the bleeding has stopped.   The babies are looking great and we will have more info on them after our anatomy scan next week.   And I'm thankful to be on home bedrest and have the support of my work who is quite happy to let me work from home for now.    I am also thankful for our MFM, who is also THE twin doctor around here - and that he's taking this as serious as we feel about it.

So yeah.  That's us.     I'm still getting used to the bedrest idea, and figuring out the work piece -- but I'm so grateful to still be pregnant today after that scare last week.

Welcome to the fun of twins/bedrest/short cervix!

Good to hear things are becoming more stable and that your mfm is taking it seriously. There are several of us here on the board as well as on the twin board who are in similar situations so feel free to ask questions.

    Best of luck though :)

Thanks everyone. Today marks the end of my first week on bedrest.... Things are stable with the cervix which is good. Babies are doing good. I am grateful to see another week tick by so we are closer to the first goal of viability.

My gums and throat have erupted this week in what is definitely pregnancy related gingivitis, and who knows what else - my suspicion is that both are stress related, given how quickly they emerged, but going to the family doc today for a throat culture anyway. Good times. Have been assured by our MW we have for support now (because we have been medically transferred to the MFM) though that unless I spike a fever it's probably not going to affect the pregnancy... That's good.

    Hope everyone's week is good.
