@MamaZEsquireI totally have the same thing with the mirrors. Especially after scary movies. And there is one giant mirror in my bedroom I can see from my bed. Its the bathroom mirror so It cant be moved. Or if I just recall a scary movie while I'm trying to go to bed in the dark I start hearing things and seeing them and I hate walking in to a room and having to turn the light on because I'm always 99% sure I'll see someone standing there. Oh god!
Butterflies scare the crap out of me. They are just a glorified moth and I hate those too. they ALWAYS fly at me. horrible.
I am deathly afraid of tornadoes! A few weeks ago we had bad weather that came through, and of course DH had to work that night. So, I am home with my DD figuring out how I am going to sleep knowing that we could possibly get hit by a tornado. Well, ended up not only making myself throw-up because I was so scared but also stayed up all night watching the weather. A tornado never came through thank goodness!
I used to not be afraid of tornadoes because we'd get warnings all the time growing up but nothing would happen. I have a pretty good fear of them now that I saw an F1 rip shingles off the roofs of surrounding houses, down trees, and tear power lines. I was at a friend's house when it happened and after it was over I had a really hard time getting home because every street I tried to go down had huge trees blocking the way. Scared me to death.
Another time we were having a pretty hairy spell of storms when my phone, C's phone, the TV, and sirens all went off at once warning us to seek shelter immediately because an F5 was heading to our town. I nearly peed myself in terror. Luckily it bypassed us by a few miles but it put the fear of God in me. Now I get teary-eyed and frantic when I hear a siren. You don't fuck around with tornadoes.
I can't stand seeing bits of food in the kitchen sink. It digusts me so I'm forever rinsing and cleaning it multiple times a day.
I hate escalators. I'm afraid of getting sucked into it somehow.
I'm afraid of burning alive. My brother accidentally burnt my chest when I was 3 and ever since then I have been afraid of anything that can burn. It took me until my teens to use the stove by myself. Even now I practically have a panic attack if C toddles into the kitchen when I'm about to open the oven. Ugh.
I hate heights and can't stand walking up the stairs in the mall because they have an open back to them and I picture myself sliding through it every single time (even though my wide hips would pretty much prevent that from happening).
I am terrified of my feet being uncovered at night. I have nightmares any time they stick out. I blame it on seeing some crappy show when I was about 4. Some guy broke into a girls house and stabbed the bottom of her feet. For the last 20 years I have been horrified.
I blame my fear of this on the movie Chuckie. One of the movies, some kid put his feet on the floor after waking up and Chuckie was under the bed and sliced the back of his ankles.
I don't know if it's real or not, but I remember growing up hearing about people who hid under cars and sliced Achilles tendons as people walked by. So of course, now I'm afraid of parking garages and always scan under cars in lots.

I heard the same thing growing up, and I still check under my car when I come out from the mall, etc.!
