Like a lot of ladies on here, I'm getting nervous about the bottle to sippy transition.

Em does well with hard spout sippy cups. The problem is, once the milk is half gone, he doesn't lift the sippy enough and just ends up sucking air.

I hear all you ladies talking about straw cups. Which ones do you use? Are they regular straws? I've given Em regular straws before and he just chews them or gags. We have tried many straw cups and sippy cups. LO can drink from them fine but even though they are "leak proof" most of them leak. My favorite are these:

They don't leak and only have 3 parts to clean. Plus the straw is longer so LO can get most of the milk from the cup unlike other straw cups.

Vital Baby Toddler Straw Cup, Blue, 10 Ounce

It is the Vital Baby Toddler Straw Cup. It never leaks. It has ounce markings on the side (holds 10 oz). It has a flip top to cover the straw area to keep it clean when you're out. The straw goes all the way down to the bottom. DS has been drinking easily from it since 9 months old. In fact, we skipped the soft top sippies entirely and went straight to this cup (even though it is marked for 15 months and up).

However, some of the reviews said it was easy to drink from while others said it was difficult. I took a chance and ordered the blue one and it was fine. Basically like drinking from a normal straw. Then I decided to order another one and got the orange/yellow one. That one WAS hard to drink from. I was disappointed but after a few days I decided to compare the valve parts of the two cups. I noticed there is a little clear strap part that goes over the valve. On the valve for the blue cup it had been pushed to the side (I guess it was from the beginning. I never did it intentionally.) so I pushed the clear strap to the side on the valve for the orange cup. Once I did that it became easy to drink from as well.

We use the playtex ones. They will leak occasionally but are easy to clean and come in insulated ones to keep the milk cold longer.

My LO was the same as yours and chewed or gaged on the straws. I decided to try out these take and toss ones because it was easy to drink from ( liquid does come up quickly though).

We use the Zoli bot cup and another which is the same idea. There's a few different brands. The straw is silicone and weighted so he can drink from any angle. They can leak a bit but I hear no cup is leak proof. We like them. We did buy the little brush to clean the straw. That makes it easy.

LO never drank from a bottle or a sippy cup. He does love his straw cups though. We find they all leak. We've tried a lot, but LO likes the ones with handles the best.

we have several and I LOVE this one best https://www.amazon.com/Playtex-Gripper-TrainingTime-Trainer-Colors/dp/B004E2H3PA. The nuby doesn't work well for us because the seal makes it so that I have to poke a hole in it or LO can't get anything out. Plus, they tend to leak.

This is my favorite. They are spendy but the weighted straw is awesome. They will leak up the straw as the liquid warms up to room temp, so I just stick it back in the fridge when she seems to be done for a bit. Just got some Tommee tippee ones today an so far so good! Doesn't seem to have as much suction as the playtex ones so hopefully it won't suck the milk up the straw on its own as it gets warm!

We use this one. He loves it and prefers it over his regular sippy cups for sure. It does leak if dropped, but I think that's a common issue with straw cups.
