My DS loves being bounced - my DH and I practically live on the exercise ball. I am looking to buy something to bounce him. Does anyone have recommendations? I was looking at the Fischer Price Rainforest Jumperoo or Bouncer. Any thoughts? TIA!
A jumperoo shouldn't be used until your son has good head/neck control, usually around 4 months. The bouncer (which we have and love) is a totally different contraption that is age-appropriate for him right now. I'd say get the bouncer (we still use ours, sparingly though) and in a few months go for a jumperoo or exersaucer.
Two totally different contraptions. As other pp, the Bouncer is good now and for the next few months - nice when you want to be hands free and let him entertain himself for a bit. It's more like a seat with some activities. Jumperoo/Excersaucer for 4+ month when he can sit up on his own - this will help him to build his leg muscles for standing/walking.
We love our simple FP oatmeal jungle bouncer from Target. It's very bouncy and also vibrates, but does not make any sounds. When DS started batting and grabbing at objects, he was fascinated by the toys on the toybar. (DS also loves the exercise ball and this worked wonders for him the first several months.) We tried the jumperoo with him last week and I still think it's a little early for it at 5 months (for my baby.)
To answer your question, you would have to bounce it with your foot or hand. When he starts kicking more it will move on it's own, but not as much as when you use your foot. It's very easy when you are sitting down.
