I am vacating the place so he can have his all night poker party. These guys, are extremely loud, vulgar and drunk by the end, usually around 5:00 am...little one and I are going to have a slumber party at my moms.
He wants to hang out with all the kids during the day and have a date night at the casino. We usually don't do gifts for mothers/Father's Day or birthdays, we like to go do something that person chooses.
I just told him I hope he doesn't expect some extravagant gift b/c I have exactly $400 left until I return to work in a month. He did really well on Mother's Day. He responded by saying he didn't want a damn thing. Then he gave me the eyes. So now I'll have to bang him.
I'm doing customized collar stays and baseball tickets for the Rangers/Indians game, since he is an Indians fan and doesn't get to see them very often.
I went with my LO to a pottery place nearby. I painted her footprints, name and age to a mug. Then did some little bits of decorative painting on it too. You leave it with them to glaze and pop in the kiln. We picked it up the other day - it looks fab!! Only cost us £12.99. Don't know if they have anything like that you girls could try? I thought it made a great first Father's Day keepsake.
I'm not sure who suggested it way back when, but I'm getting DH some scotch or bourbon that was made this year with a card that says he has to wait till lo is 21 to drink it. I'll also frame a couple of pictures to put in his office.

I think he needs a new pair of shades and I'll put in something cheesy like "you're the coolest dad" Then spoil him throughout the day. All of "his" holidays are right there at the beginning of June so I have to get creative (Anniversary 1st, bday 11, Father's Day 15....oh vey )

Is scotch or bourbon not like wine where they bottle it and then it's sold next year? Ie what you buy this year is 2013? Am I overthinking it? Lol. DH and I are going to save a case of wine for lo for when she's 21 but we will collect it over the next few years because 2014 wine will be bottles later this year and sold in 2015/16
btw, contrary to popular belief, wine very rarely gets "better" with age, especially past the ten year mark. Unless you really know what you're doing (what kind to buy,) you probably don't want to buy much more than a bottle, bc otherwise there's a good chance you'll have a case of expensive vinegar on your hands in 21 years!
@Jt7dreamz, hmmm I don't know, I really don't know that much about liquor. I guess I better look into that. There's a really nice liquor store in the next town over, I'm sure they have someone there I can ask. If that's the case, maybe I'll wait until next year.
And what PP said, I do know that not all wines get better with age.

Mom is watching LO overnight so I'm taking him to vegas for a quick getaway for the night! We're in So Cal so it's a short drive... He's dying to go but I'm keeping it a surprise. Pre baby we would have typically gone about 5 times a year...those days are over.

I am going to save just one bottle from this year. I do know that it needs to be stored properly for it to "get better with age". Do you know if a certain type of wine stores better? I am thinking I will go to Total Wine and ask about this.
Me: Do you want anything for Father's Day? Him: Nope. Did I do anything for you for Mother's Day? Me: Nope. Him: I split wood that day. Did you want anything else? Me: A hug and "You're a great mother"? Breakfast? Him: Breakfast is traditional, sure. Me: I should make YOU breakfast! (He ALWAYS gets up before me so this would be epic.) Him: Just not having to make the coffee would be nice. (We don't have an automatic or drip coffee maker; we use a percolator on the stove, and as mentioned he is always the one to get up first and make it.) Me: Well then. I will get up before you on Father's Day and make the coffee. Him: Thanks!
So that's what I'm doing! Maybe pancakes as well, just cuz.
I'm doing pictures. DH wants to be called "papa" - that is what my nephew calls my brother and it is super cute. Not my favorite, I like "daddy" but I guess he gets to pick.
So I bought wooden letters and I'm going to paint them and take a shot with each letter and do a frame with 4 slots.
Our anniversary is on Monday and my 'paper' gift to him is tickets to the Dodger game on Father's Day. He is really excited because this will be LO's first baseball game and we keep arguing whether her first game will be a Dodger game (MH's team) or an Angel game (my team). Part of his gift is him winning
DH is really into wood working and tools so for Father's Day I just ordered him and Jacob engraved hammers, a daddy and a son sized one and they are engraved "building memories together" on one side and "daddy's hammer" "Jacobs hammer on the other. Then I am going to make a wooden box to put them in and possibly put Jacobs handprint or footprint on it, with a blank album for DH to put picture of their projects together in
Same thing I got for Mother's Day= nothing. Oh snap! Honestly though, we don't really do gifts for each other. He made me a fantastic steak on Mother's Day. So I'll probably make him a nice dinner too

That would be perfect! Where did you order the hammers from?
I keep going back and forth between ideas... I suck at all things creative, so I am probably going to utilize my best friend who is really creative and crafty to come up with something.

That'd be me! Eta: we bought a bottle of Jameson rarest vintage reserve for us to share with her when she's 21. It's her 0th birthday gift I guess.
I booked hubs + Jamie's godfather (like a glorified uncle) a brewery tour fr the craft beer places nearby. They are gonna be drruuunk lol I'm only going big this first one.
I did a photo book on Snapfish with a bunch of pics of DH with his two kids from his ex since he and I got together, and a couple pages at the end of him with our new LO. Basically a book celebrating him and for him to enjoy the pics from when the kids were little through the years.
Snapfish has a deal right now for a 40 page photo book for $29.99 and free shipping... With tax I paid about $32.
My h is a bit of a beer snob, so, I'm getting beer glasses etched, some craft beer and some time at a new indoor shooting range. Etching similar to the pip with the twins birthdate
A hammer personalized saying "Daddy - I love building memories with you!" I saw it on etsy and thought it was perfect since DH has said he couldn't find his hammer and needed one
Although I got nothing on mothers day i want to make Father's Day special for him. This is "our" first one together (he has a daughter from a previous relationship) so I was thinking trying to get in contact with his daughters mother to see if I could go pick her up get pictures of her and our LO taken and then surprise him with breakfast or lunch with her and the pictures (he's super bummed about the passing of his father so Father's Day is hard for him and that his daughters mother doesn't encourage his daughter (she's 6) to call him on Father's Day) and next year he better make Mother's Day special or there will be hell to pay!
Ugh. I wish I was crafty like some of you guys. I really wanted to go to color me mine (it's a place where you paint pottery and they kiln it or whatever) and do something with I LOVE MY Daddy, where the V in love was the feet...
...but I won't be able to make it look good.
I might get a picture frame and do handprints with a quote or picture in behind though. That can't be too easy to screw up, right?
I've had the idea to do this for awhile now (originally seen on pinterest) and I finally took some shots this morning - I think this came out good! DH will get a framed copy of this for work plus a nice breakfast for father's day (nice = anything that involves bacon...)

If my H saw this he would have a crush on your H! He loves craft beer and the gun range!
My go to gift for birthday/anni/faithers day is usually steak and a BJ.

I got a promo code from Huggies for a free 8X8 photo book on Shutterfly, so that is what MH is getting. All I did was pay shipping.
He didn't get me so much as a card, so I figured I would spend the least amount of $ possible so this deal worked out well.

DS is our 2nd, so its not DH's first Father's day so he is getting two outfits, sneakers and grill tools.
