Short version: After laboring at home for 14 hours, and at the hospital for 2, Brielle made her way into the world vaginally and med free on May 23 @ 2:01pm (MST) 6lb 6oz 19 3/4in

Long version: I started having contractions at 10:00pm (MST) and knew right away they were the real deal. After I had a few, I got up and started to clean the house, to see if light activity would make them go away or keep coming. They kept coming so I laid back down to see if they'd go away or keep coming again. Sure enough they kept coming so I got in the shower around midnight and started to get ready. I called and asked L&D when I should come in, and they said when the contractions were 3-5 minutes apart and lasting 60 seconds, or if they were so intense that I couldn't walk or talk through them. Well they weren't quite there yet, so I got in bed and slept between them. Around 3:30am they were about 4 minutes apart and 60 seconds long, so I woke DH up and we got to the hospital right at 5:00am. They checked me, I was only 2cm so they sent me home! Even though I knew if they atleast kept me for a little while they would see that I would progress, but no. They sent me home and told me I wasn't in labor. So frustrating! So I went home and labored for 6 more hours and when the pain started to become unbearable, my mom headed down to be with me but before she and my step dad could get here DH demanded that we go back to the hospital (I was in pretty obvious pain). The car ride was excruciating and I was so worried they'd send me home again. We got there around 12:00pm and I was a full 8cm with a bulging bag of water! They admitted me and I was begging for pain relief, but too late for an epidural. Within an hour of being admitted I started having the urge to push and when they checked me sure enough I was 10cm complete. Two practice pushes and my water broke. I pushed for a good 30 minutes and her head was right there...in fact, DH said something about her head "prairie doggin'" which made me laugh and her head just came out! I wasn't able to have the GBS antibiotics in my system for as long as they wanted (4 hours) before she was born so we'll be here til Sunday afternoon. Brielle and I have a clean bill of health so far though! We just love her to pieces and I cannot get over her hair! She's a little stubborn with breast feeding, but I ain't giving up yet! :)imageimage
