I woke up Thursday morning feeling extremely "off" and just all around strange. LO had dropped some but it didn't seem too significant. got DS and I ready and headed off to my 37 week appointment. the doctor was running really late and I was in the waiting room for about an hour. during that time I started having contractions lasting about a minute and they went from being 5 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart. my OB checked me and said I wasn't dilated but hooked me up to the monitors. after 20 minutes of that, I was sent to the hospital- it was time to meet my little guy! he apparently did not feel like waiting two more weeks. I was totally unprepared.

By the time I got to the hospital, contractions were 2 minutes apart and lasting a little longer than a minute. I'm pretty sure when I scheduled a repeat csection I was told I wouldn't have to go into labor. I did not sign up for this. epidural goes in easy and off we go to the OR.

Bennett Reed was born at 4:50 pm on May 22, 2014. he weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 19.5 inches long. unfortunately he was taken pretty quickly to the special care nursery because he was having breathing difficulties. I was told because he was a csection and not born vaginally, he didn't get that good squeeze of his lungs to get the extra fluid out and it was really common and not to worry. I was completely distraught.

eventually he was able to regulate his breathing with minimal intervention and 11 hours later, I got to see and hold my sweet baby boy for the first time. we are so in love and so excited he is here and doing well now. thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!
