I bought a box of wine yesterday. I tapped it at 5:05. I blame @Muirmaid‌ for mentioning that she was going to have a lemon drop at 5:00 on the dot. TRIGGGGEEEEERRRRR!!!!!!

It's 5 am here and everyone in my house is fast asleep. I should be sleeping, too, but instead I am sitting on my couch in the dark, eating soup for breakfast, and without pants on. Also my cat in perched on my shoulder and attacking my face.

It feels great to have alone time!

I spend way too much time thinking about baby names.

You and me both. It's constant.
    Current favorites?
I made a new thread so that FFFC doesn't get mucked up with names.

My kid is like a circus act when he sleeps.

He starts out on his back or side in the middle of the crib. Every time I check in him on the video monitor he is in a different position and in a different part of the crib.

Sometimes he has body parts dangling through the rails. Sometimes he is all smushed in a ball in the corner.

He used to be a very still sleeper. This restlessness also seems to coincide with more frequent wake ups.

But it's impossible to sigh about it when I'm looking at him sitting pulling his toys out of a drawer with a look of pure happiness on his face.

Even if he got up with the sun this morning.

eTA: crap. This was supposed to be in spam! I can't keep my threads straight anymore!!!

Mine does this, too. I woke up at 4 am the other day and he was in the same position that he'd fallen sleep in the night before. Of course I had to check on him to make sure he was breathing...
  • I have two.
    1. I had to bite my tongue here HARD the other day because I would have been a total bitch if I didn't. YWIA.
    2. I am probably only one of few people who think that my life choices should not be my jobs responsibility.

  • Uhm...apparently Jadzia didnt get the memo that when you are alone with Daddy you should be just as needy and grumpy for him as you are for me when I dont cater to  your every want, not fall asleep right after MMCH and stay that way for the last 2.5hrs!

@LadyBlue07‌ I think for me because decent maternity/parental leave has existed here in Canada for so long I cannot fathom the idea of having to go back to work so quickly. It was six months leave until 2000. Then it for extended to a year. I really like our program. The first 15 weeks are for the mom only. After that the next 35 weeks can be used by either parent. The final two weeks are available as leave but are not paid). It isn't funded by the general budget but from employment insurance so paid leave is available only to those who had amassed the necessary hours and weeks of work. (I think it may be 700 hours to qualify but I'm not entirely sure). You have to pay into EI to receive EI. EI pays up to 60 per cent of your base salary to a maximum of $500 a week. For financial reasons we chose for me to take it all but many of my friends split the else with their husbands. Some workplaces will top up the amount paid (federal government workers get topped up to 90 per cent of their salary which I think is a bit uneven since private sector companies rarely top up. The choice is up tithe company and I'd they too up you have to either go back to work for a certain period of time or pay back the top up amount. My company doesn't top up but I continue to amass years of service and vacation time etc which other companies for do. I has the choice to continue paying into my pension and health benefits during the year.
Same to the bold. I just can't wrap my head around it but that's because leave of only a few weeks is unheard of around here and it's just so strange to me that the US doesn't have something even close to comparable to Canada's mat leave.

I think someone has me blocked and it kind of makes me sad. I didn't realize I was so obnoxious.

    I don't think you're obnoxious :)
Who do you think has you blocked?
I feel like if I name said person it would be very call outish.

You've got PM in about 5 seconds...
