AW: A/S!!

A/S went great this morning. We had a very cooperative babe who was very squirmy. We now have lots of pictures which is awesome!

And babe is a GIRL!!! We are so excited! I was thinking boy for the longest time so I was surprised! DH and I are very excited to start preparing for our daughter!

Yay ! Congrats team pink !!!
I have a question at the a/s besides telling you the gender they also do what? Measure body head and make sure baby is growing properly? And if so do they tell you right then oh it all looks great or does the ultra sound tech leave that up to the doctor to consult and go over things with you ? Mine is next week and I'm so anxious

The anatomy scan is to look at all parts of baby. Finding out the sex is just a side benefit. It can actually take quite some time (ours took over an hour and I know it can be longer). They take measurements of skull, leg bones, arm bones, etc. They are able to look at the blood flow in the heart, see the kidneys...all sorts of stuff I couldn't keep track of. For us, the tech told us everything was good, then she consulted with one of the OBs on duty and he came in and took a look too (they told us to expect this before the scan started). He also assured us everything looked good.

However, it might depend on your practice how they communicate the results to you. I am pretty sure if there is a worrisome measurement a doctor will speak to you in person or call you personally.
