Re: UO Thursday

  • Everyone is coming out of the woodwork today.. spanking really causes a stir apparently
Well you know....bat signal and all B-)
What is your bat signal @CaliforniaDream87? I might start calling you back to TB more often if it's that easy! Also, I need to learn @BellaOso and @RoosterMemphis' bat signals. I miss them.

I'm pretty sure I could eat my weight in KK doughnuts.

It's a good thing the nearest one is out of the way so we never drive by it.

  • Well, I spend the morning at my daughter's graduation, and miss all the fun.

I like donuts, and I'm not a cop.

I like watermelon and fried chicken, and I'm black (damn me living up to stereotypes).

ETA: and I can't swim. How's that for stereotyping ;-)

I think Mr. PB is funny.

ETA2: I will not post my view on the spanking discussion. That's none of you alls damn business.

Oh that note, I leave you all with this:

Oh, and, any day that brings out solei, Cali, and Mommyames is a good day in my book. Now we just need Roostermemphis to come back, and my day is complete.

This is my favorite post of the day.

Krispy Kreme are NASSSSSSSSSSTY - GO DD!

Also, a little late with this post, @BellaOso I LOVE the "star" people story, or whatever you called them.  I might just have to save that for my DD.  :-)

@revez We did have some Tim's around here for a year or so. The donuts were ok, but no competition to DD.

I do miss the Tim Horton's. They used to have Coldstone's attached!
Yeah, we had a Tim's too in CT...but it lasted about a year here too - I never saw the excitement for it.  Wasn't it the croissants or something?
  • did someone say dicks?

    @pwhoskins‌ UO= unpopular opinion

My UO: DO not tell your children that I ( police officer) will arrest them when you see me. Don't teach your children to fear and hate me. Teach them to respect us. We don't punish children that's the parents job.

Eta: this happened 4 separate times yesterday with children 6 and under.

I was having lunch at a sub shop and for some reason the lady working the counter had brought her young daughter (maybe 4 years old?) to the shop.  The daughter was sitting at a table, playing with her things.  The mom brought her over some lunch and a few minutes later the girl spilled the drink.  The mom then started telling her she was going to call the police if she didn't clean it up right away.  The poor girl was in TEARS! She was seriously panicing that her mom was going to call the cops.  The mom said it several times too.  It broke my heart!!! :(

    what a C u next Tuesday...and I never use that word.
  • On the topic of discipline, my toddler (2 years 3 months,) had started playing with her poop. Apparently this is extremely common, and when I looked for advice about what to do, many people suggested that you give the child a cold shower to clean them off rather than a warm bath. They theorized that the warm bath made the poop playing time even more desirable because it was followed by a fun bath. A cold shower takes away the fun.  I was horrified. Maybe it is because my toddler is/was/will be a sparkler, but I could never give her a cold shower. I tried the more passive methods - diaper on backwards, talking to her about it without having a big reaction, offering an alternative (play-doh,) keeping her in a onesie or something that made the poo harder to access, etc. It has died down pretty quickly, but oh my - that is a phase I am not looking forward to going through again.

So what does A13 think of this method of "correction". Am I just being a sensitive Sally or is that pretty awful?

I can't see doing a cold shower, but definitely doing a less than desirable bath time. No toys, no playing, just business.
