Hey Ladies!!!

I was wondering when y'all started taking prenatal vitamins and what your favorite brand was. Thanks!!

Well, we thought we were going to start TTC last fall and I had bought PNV, and then we changed our minds. So I've been taking them when I remember since then haha (otherwise they will expire and go to waste)! But now that we are NTNP with definite plans to TTC this fall, I've started taking them daily.

I recently read an article that what you eat before you even conceive can have a great impact on the baby, so I would probably take them a couple months before you start TTC.

I take VitaFusion gummies because I hate swallowing pills.

I'm taking the up&up prenatal right now, which is a good basic prenatal vitamin. Other brands I've used in the past are New Chapter and Rainbow Light. Both those brands offer versions that you take more than once a day so the pills are smaller, but I always did the one-a-day Rainbow Light prenatal because it was easier for me to remember.

My OB made vitamin/supplement suggestions to me for TTC (he isn't picky about prenatal brand but has me taking additional folic acid) and did some blood work. My TSH level came back high so my OB started me on medication to get that to a better level for TTC and pregnancy. Your care provider may have vitamin/supplement and other advice specific to you.
  • Vitafusion gummies. Or the generic version.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

  • I'm trying Fertilaid along with Ovaboost from Fairhaven Health, bought online. I agree with the "3 month rule" for both men and women when TTC.
    Good Luck!!!!
  • I started taking them a few months before we decided to TTC #1.  Now that I think of it, I should probably start taking them again since we will TTC #2 this summer.  Exciting!

I plan to start taking them about 2-3 months before TTC. I'll likely go with a gummy.

  • My sister gave me the rest of her prenatals.. I think they're Nature Made brand. I've been taking them for a couple months now as we will start TTC this summer.
  • I highly recommend seeking vitamins that have 800mg or more of folic acid. I love rainbowlight complete prenatal. It's a lot of pills, six, but a excellent source of everything you want your prenatal to offer!

I did a lot of research into what the recommended dose for which vitamins were needed and the closest prenatal i foudn that matched with everything was TwinLab Prenatals and they dont make me sick. I also did the Nordic Naturals Prental DHA fish oils in addition to the prenatals.
  • I started taking PNV in January (religiously in April) this year.  I've just started TTC this month.  In my state, your OBGYN can write a prescription for PNV and there are certain pharmacies that you can get them for free.  I like mine because they are free!
