    We also brought a small blanket and stuffed animal.  That seemed to help make him want to curl up and sleep.

    Oh, you need real Southern sausage gravy.  I have learned to avoid most north of Richmond, VA.

    All this gravy talk reminded me of the gravy my aunt made with fried chicken drippings and milk.  It was so delicious and no one can make it like she did.

    i had no idea what real gravy was until i went to dinner at my stbxh's grandma's house.  

    i grew up on reconstituted dry packets.  

    such a naive child.

    I know @pobrecita. but really, when I was little my momma was chronically sick and my dad was an anti-feminist who didn't cook, so we had lots of instant/frozen/etc. I should probably learn how to make the real food for myself.

    One of the worst fast food experiences of my life was going to KFC and getting mashed potatoes and there was just a clump of potato flakes in the center. Also, raw chicken. I haven't been to KFC since.

    The thought of gravy with chunks of egg in it makes me want to puke.

    Poutine is good, although I haven't had it often.

    Sausage gravy is good, especially with biscuits.

    My dad taught me to make gravy the *right* way using a roux. Flour, not corn starch, and made from scratch. If that makes me pretentious, ok.
