The one negative of my appointment

I've mentioned a couple times that I have endometriosis and fibroids, 2 fibroids to be exact. I had them scanned a year ago, and they were 1.8cm and 2.2cm. Today they were measuring 3.8cm and 5.5cm.

My doctor said they are going to keep a close eye on them, because if the placenta is laying over one of the fibroids, it puts me at risk for a placental abruption - which is a terrifying complication. He also said to expect them to continue to get larger throughout the pregnancy. I get another ultrasound at 13 weeks.

Anyone else dealing with this?

  • During my previous pregnancy, I had one fibroid that grew to be 11 cm. They monitored it the entire time, and thankfully, it caused no major complications, but the "what ifs" hung over my head the entire time. I did have a c-section that was related to the fibroid (its size and placement stopped DD from dropping, even after progressing all the way to 10 cm and pushing for over 2 hours), but otherwise, it was mostly just an annoyance.

That's my fear, but I'll just have to take it as it comes. Thanks for sharing!
