I hope and pray to everything holy that this birth is nothing like what I put my mother through. My first son's birth was fantastic, so I'm going for another one of those.
I don't know if I was late or early, actually, but we were just talking about my story this weekend. My mom lost her mucus plug and called the doc because she had no idea what it was. He panicked and made her go straight to the hospital (interesting...??). So she labored for an awful long time and they knew I was breech pretty quickly. She wound up in labor for 24 hours total and of course the doc mentioned a c-section, but she refused, so the doc pushed me back up in there (oh my god, can you imagine???) and my dad held my butt through mom's stomach really tight so I didn't try to slip down butt first again (apparently I tried to come out that way 3 times before this) and that did the trick. I turned correctly and was born!
I love reading everyone's stories! I don't know much about my own, so it is interesting to hear all the different variations of what your mothers went through.
All I know about my own birth is that my biological mother had me vaginally and I was 8 days late but only weighed 6lb 6oz. My parents had already arranged a closed adoption so they were called to the hospital when my bio mom went into labor, and brought me home the same day. I wish I knew how the actual labor and delivery went, but of course that stuff isn't available to me so I guess every bit of my L&D with this LO will be a surprise.

At 3:00 am the morning of my mom's due date, she was up baking cookies (I assume this was nesting, because she was not prone to baking or cooking in general, although she did like to stay up really late) when she "went into labor," which I assume means her water broke. She woke my dad up and finished the cookies and packed them up "for my dad." They drove to the hospital where she spent 3 hours, had no meds, and pushed me out easily. I was 7.5 pounds. I was the only girl born while she was there (I'm guessing 5 days), so when my grandfather came to see me in the nursery he knew which one I was.
Shortly thereafter, my mom found herself pregnant again... because, as it turns out, BF is NOT birth control. About 3 1/2 weeks before her due date, she went into labor. It was Saturday afternoon, so she called her doc while my dad took 18 month old me to the neighbor's until my grandma could pick me up. Then they went to the hospital where my brother popped in the triage area, out without any pushing at 7 pounds. That was the last time my brother did anything quickly or on time.
I hope I am so lucky to get either of these options for this LO!
ETA: Great idea for a thread! Love reading these and seeing how some things have changed, but others haven't!
If I could copy my moms labours I totally would. My mom had almost identical birth stories for both my brother and I. My brother was due on Mothers day and I was due on Easter, we were both born 8 days early on a Saturday. She was in labour with my brother for 4hrs and 3hrs for me.
So far I can check off being due on a holiday, so with that I expect my little guy to make his appearance on Jun 7th.
