update: A miracle heart.....T&P's today please

Hey guise. My mom has been waiting for a heart transplant for the past 4 years. Because of her rare antibodies in her blood (due to not being given the Rhogan shot after the birth of my little brother), its been a long and tough wait, being told that truly it would take a miracle to find a heart with the same antibodies. 100 days ago my mom and dad moved down to LA from Portland in a motorhome so my mom could be admitted at Cedars Sinai, where they have the most rare blood type organ transplants in the US. Over the course of the last few months, she saw many of her fellow transplant-waiting neighbors go off quickly to get their hearts, and was beginning to feel really depressed. 100 days in a room that she couldn't leave because of her very complicated IV system that goes to her heart. Just two days ago my mom was threatening to forget it and leave and live out her days spending time with her grandson instead of wasting away in the hospital.

And then.....last night we got the news. Her heart is here. A perfect antibody match. A true miracle heart.

The donor's organs are being cross matched for recipients right now. They don't want to waste any organs. They think they will be harvesting this afternoon, and that my mom will go in for surgery at around 3pm MST. On her 100th day in the hospital.

We could use all the good juju out there, and would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Pray that the heart is good, because they can still visually reject the heart at the last minute. Pray that the doctors do a great job, and that my mom's body accepts the new organ. And please pray for the family of the donor. We don't know anything about them, or if he has family, but the thought of a life being lost to save my mom is heavy to me and I hope that if he does have a family, that they have peace and comfort.

Update: the heart arrived around 8:30PM last night, and they were in surgery until about 3:30 this AM. My dad is waiting to see here now. Apparently it went really well and she has a new heart! So excited!!! Praying her body receives the heart well and she can get out of the hospital soon and on with recovering and living life. It will be amazing for her! Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!!

I remember your story from a previous post. I am SO happy to hear the wonderful news. I am sorry to the person who lost their life, but please don't have a heavy heart. Everything happens for a reason and this man might have lost his life for another reason you will never know, but the timing was to help your mom. God has a plan.

I will keep your mom and your family in my prayers. I hope she has a successful surgery and that all goes smoothly. Please keep us posted. Lots of thoughts, prayers, hugs and support to you.

I remember reading your post about your visit to see your mom with your son and as soon as I saw the title of the thread I was hoping it was about her and that she was receiving a heart! T&Ps that everything goes smoothly and she gets to enjoy more time with her grandkids very soon!
