The brilliance of green day is on the surface e a lot of the music seems shallow and immature. The pop punk power chords and Billie ' s untrained voice give a garage band feel. But there's a depth there, it's not just far and poop jokes.
Welcome to Paradise is a song I didn't really get until I was out on my own, living in a cheap apartment with crummy furniture. Some call it slum, some call it nice.
-My son was born in April 2012. He pretty much rules.
I'm so bummed that work prevented me from seeing this thread until right now. When I was in high school, Green Day was MY LIFE!! I love them, and Billie Joe.
I made a Green Day "book" of my own, complete with lyrics to every song, and quotes and interviews, etc. I feel like I sound like a freak now that I've written that out. Ha!
I remember when "Wake Me Up when September Ends" was out. It was the year I lost my dad. Only I usually want February to end. It was sudden and I still remember the day super clear down to what I wore and what register I was on at Home Depot. That was 2005. I still miss him dearly.
I listened to Dookie in HS. Had it on cassette lol. Have always loved GD. Didn't know Billie Joe had bipolar. I deal with depression and anxiety myself. Really fucks with you and people who don't have it don't understand.
Re: This is a thread about Green Day
ETA: I've always thought he was sexy
