Post-Testing Consult & Game Plan!

A wonderfully informative and hopeful consult. DH got to meet the RE and is really happy and on board with everything, which makes life that much easier for me!

My prolactin stayed up (77 and 66, supposed to be under 20 or 30) which indicates a possible small pituary tumor. Scheduling MRI and then meds if indicated.

RE says I need not have concerns about my biological clock at this time, woohoo! FSH 4.2, AMH 6.3.

He agrees my ovaries are both morphologically polycystic, but since that hasn't stopped me from Oing and having regular periods, he'll recheck Testosterone levels but thinks it's not a huge factor.

DH's SA was worse than we thought - although he had 38 million total motile sperm, his concentration is 12 million total per mL, with 2% morphology. He did bloodwork and will go to a urologist.

RE chose a prescription for Letrozole 2.5mg (10 pills over 5 days) because he feels it has fewer side effects than Clomid. I will get CD2 bloodwork and a CD10 monitoring appointment. We chose OPKs instead of a trigger. RE was incredibly patient, supportive, and informative. He said because DH's SA gives a good explanation of our IF, he expects the meds and IUI will bring us close to a healthy couple's 20% average PG chances per cycle. He's aiming for 2-3 follies per cycle to up our chances, and although I expressed concern with not wanting triplets or SR, he says he still feels comfortable "strongly encouraging" us to go ahead with IUI if there are 3 follies, since the chance of all 3 eggs "maturing, fertilizing, implanating, and developing" is tiny. I am surprised but also relieved to put that in his hands.

DH was so cute. RE asked if we were ready to begin treatment, so I asked DH, and he just said, "Whatever you want, honey." It really summed up his stance toward all this - he just wants me to be happy, and doesn't want to put me through any emotional or physical stress for a baby unless that's what I want. Still avoiding getting any hopes up, so we're look at the summer as 3 cycles of "practicing" IUI, Lol.

I just want to say that I am so glad to be part of this TTTC community! I have already learned so much from all of you, which made this consult more productive and and this plan less overwhelming.

@annaclaire256 I do like having an optimistic doctor, as a foil for our insistence that we will never get pregnant, Lol. Of course, if we go a few months without success, perhaps we'll be regretting that optimistic doctor, but for now it feels good.

It also feels good that all of you, my friends of 3T, feel it's a good plan...that's awesome validation and makes us feel even more content.

@BunnyBerry : I am going in for 7 DPO bloodwork tomorrow, and then I will unfortunately be grappling with my insurance to get with an actual RE, not an OB. That could take anywhere from a week to a month. So far everything is pointing to Unexplained. Possibly PCOS (LH was a bit higher than FSH and I have a pretty high AMH), but since I do ovulate monthly (just on a weird schedule) I don't think it's really the problem. These are all my own diagnoses based on Dr. Google though, since I don't trust my OB further than I can throw her.

I am totally getting my hopes up with the possibility we will get a BFP off of this natural cycle and avoid treatment entirely, so that's driving me crazy.

Really hoping we get an RE who seems as competent and straightforward as yours! I'm just ready for a solid plan to move forward.

Anyway, even if we aren't cycle buddies, I'll be keeping an eye on you, chick!

@jjgrl55 I wish Dr. Google didn't have such reasonable prices because he always give me more questions that answers...hope your insurance does their job and gives you authorization for an RE sooner than later! Well, nothing wrong with getting up hopes...it's like a month of happiness paid for with a couple days of abject disappointment (or not...you never know)!
