24 as well. That's when they had me go in-patient for monitoring. They said anything before that is not viable...they even suggested I go in later because if there was distress they HAD to deliver me and 24 wks is a scary gestation. I just couldn't walk around after 24 wks constantly wondering if everything was okay...I'd never forgive myself if something happened and I didn't do everything possible.
BTW - they said 24 wks is considered viable, but twin birth weights are usually lower...so twins at 24 wks aren't typically as big as a singleton at that point.?
viability has nothing to do with how many babies...it just means the point at which the baby has all of it's organs developed (not matured though) and can (with major assistance) live outside of the mother. ?i do know some 23 weekers (23 + 4 and a 23 + 1) who are doing ok and beating all the odds.
Yup, it's 24 weeks. But that just means the babies have a chance if they are born at 24 weeks - only 50% survival rate. The odds at 26 weeks are a lot better, and at 28 weeks there is a 90% chance of survival.
Re: What week is the viability week?
