June 2014 Moms

Born to Run Junebugs

This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us...

Scale of 1-10, how ready are you to pop out this kiddo? ;)

Re: Born to Run Junebugs

  • My runs:  Only 2 this week due to a sick (Flu type b) DH and family in town.  I ran 4.5 miles total.  I walked some, but not nearly enough. My cankles were horrible yesterday!! Overall the runs were good.  I've been feeling kinda meh the past 2 days, hoping to bounce back and get a couple good runs in this week!

I'm at about a 6-7 on wanting her out... Ready to meet her but still terrified!

  • i have been maintaining my three times a week crossfit inspired boot camp but my cardio is dying. i absolutely cannot run anymore- i feel like i look like a three legged elephant. i am very competitive and have not worked out like this with my other two, so i am considering stopping the classes at 37wks and just supplementing at home to avoid having to play the pregnant card.

i know life it easier with her on the inside, but i have reached the "nighttime is so uncomfortable" stage and can't wait to bend over without grunting.

  • I took the dog out on walks most days last week for about 40 minutes each and that was enough for me.  I made it to and through the wedding festivities as well!  At one point the photographer had us balancing on huge rocks in heels so THAT was fun!

  • Oh and on a scale 1-10, I would say I'm about an 8.  I'm still pretty comfortable and right now I'm more terrified to go through labor than anything else.

Hey ladies! Stalker to this thread and not really a runner, but can walkers/C25K wannabe runners post in this thread?  I used to jog before getting pregnant and a new job and that all died in the winter living up north. Once I hit second tri, I got put on pelvic rest, and that was that. So anyway, I want to get back to my long walks (about 3-4 miles a day, 3-4 days a week) after baby comes, and I'd love some support or somewhere to be accountable to.  A question I do have for you ladies is postpartum, how long are you planning on waiting until running again?  After bleeding stops? Right away? Easing from walking to running?  I want to learn from you all and I admire you so much for sticking with running while pregnant!! It was tough for me before pregnancy, and never came naturally to me no matter how long I trained!

  • @MrsRahl‌ we welcome everyone! I did c25k about 2 years ago and that's how I started. Trust me, I hated it so bad at first, it took me a little over a year of sticking with it to actually start to like it!

I'm mobile but I think the question about how long was answered 2 weeks ago in our thread. For the most part it was whenever the dr clears us. I'm definitely waiting the 6 weeks.
  • hey ladies!  again, really proud of all of us for continuing our fitness.  @Kinipela7 special congrats to you for working out this much this close to 40 weeks!  i know we all are hoping for that :)

good week of working out for me in spite of the crazy heat wave we had.  i went to my bootcamp classes and did a lot of running in them too.  didnt get as much yoga in as i wanted but still made it to a couple classes.

i am feeling great so baby can come whenever he is ready!  i dont think i will ever be 100% ready so i am glad the decision is up to him ;)

  • Oops, I'm late this week!

How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... I had one crappy run, one good run, and one day of a ton of walking (volunteering at a 5k) this week. My crappy run was supposed to be a midweek 3 miler that got cut short because I was having a lot of lower pelvic pain. On Saturday, however, I ran 5.2 comfortably with my SIL so I guess the earlier run was just a fluke. I got around 10 miles in total for the week.

Scale of 1-10, how ready are you to pop out this kiddo? Only about a 5. I'm uncomfortable, yes, but we still have so much to organize, put away, clean, etc. that I feel nowhere near ready! My non-running goal for this week is to get her nursery as done as possible, and start packing my hospital bag. Then maybe I will feel a little more prepared!

  • I am so excited to see how everything went!  She worked it right up to the end, so I'm HOPING she has some good news about how "easy" labor was! :)

Congrats on your little running buddy making her way into the world @KiniPela7!
