November 2014 Moms

Twinges?

My EDD is Nov 1 and I'm currently 16 weeks (day 2). I felt what seemed like muscle spasms in my lower belly. I've never had that before and it happened for about 2 minutes 2 nights in a row. Was this the baby moving?! Is it too early to feel something like this?

It's definitely not too early to feel baby, especially if you are a STM. I'm also due Nov. 1st and I've been feeling baby squirm around for a couple weeks now.

  • I would guess that's likely the baby moving.  That's a good description of what it feels like.  I felt my first around 15 weeks and this one I felt earlier.  It's not too early to feel the baby.

  • Did it hurt? Maybe round ligament? I feel twinges sometimes when I get up to fast.
  • Could be.

I swear I felt the baby last night.  It felt like someone was popping popcorn in my belly.  Was probably gas, in my case.

  • That's probably the baby. I'm due November 1st too and I have definitely felt the baby moving around.

  • I have felt d's at about 14 weeks, I felt this one at about 12 weeks. Definitely not too early.

  • I agree with PPs, it very well could be the baby, especially since you feel it at night (I'm assuming when you're resting on the couch or lying in bed. With DS, I started feeling something every once in a while at around 14 weeks. This time has been about the same; just a little flutter here and there starting at 14 weeks.

  • missnacholover well get excited it was the baby! lol I don't care if others say they were phantom flutters, gas, or whatnot- your baby is squirming around for real at 14 weeks and was saying hello! Poke back next time!
    Yay!  I will!

  • It's not too earlier, but if it hurts, or if you can see your belly twitching, I would guess its not baby yet. Your insides might just be stretching. You'll know soon enough. As things progress you'll be able to say if baby's movements are like what you've been feeling presently.

Also, from my experience, gas does feel like later baby movements, but is usually followed by a fart or some other, definitive gas movement. :)

I felt this yesterday afternoon! I wondered if it was the baby as well (I'm a FTM too). I hope it was!

  • I'm due Nov 1 as well and I have been feeling movements since about 12 weeks (this is my third baby) so I would say that is probably what you're feeling!

  • I definitely feel the baby already. The other day, when I was at the ultrasound sound the tech slightly shook my belly to get her to move a little. I saw her kick her little feet up and I felt a light flutter. I had been feeling that for a few days before. I knew right then and there it wasn't all in my head. I'm almost 14 weeks and this will be my third LO
  • I wish I was feeling something that made me think baby and not gas :( I know I am only 15w2d but I have heard so many of y'all talking about feeling the baby already that it kind of worries me. Luckily I go to the Dr on Friday. It will ease my mind about it all if she finds the heartbeat and says all is well.

I have nothing to add to the actual discussion, as I haven't felt anything yet that I think is baby.  But.....  I do need to share that every time I see this post title on the main page I misread it as "twinkies" and I want to eat one now.

I wish I could feel baby!!  I don't think I have yet, but I know it's fairly normal not to feel anything until later too so I try not to worry.

I wouldn't worry, I'm a STM and 15w2d, I haven't really felt anything yet, and I know baby's in there because I have a doppler. There's been a couple "is that baby?" moments, but they have be higher than where I'm finding baby with the doppler, so I chalked them up to gas.

I was probably 17 weeks with DS when I thought "maybe that's baby?", and about 19 weeks when I was "yep, definitely baby!".

  • If it feels like twinges/pulling the it's probably your uterus stretching (RLP). When you first feel the baby it will feel like butterflies then you will start feeling kicks then you will start feeling shifting, hiccoughs, an all other movements:)

OMG, THIS!!! I felt this last night for the first time! I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow.....I was awake tossing and turning last night & felt this weird, as @missnacholover described perfectly....popcorn popping sensation & a few little flutters! I'm chalkin' in up to baby, because it definitly wasn't gas & I couldn't stop smiling! :)

  • Thank you all for the input! I have definitely felt the stretching pains and this wasn't like that, so I'm hoping it was the LO! I have an appt this week so we'll see if the heartbeat is where the twinges were! :)

I'm 14 weeks and feeling stretching pain A lot. I don't think I felt the bAby yet. I here it moving on the Doppler a lot though. I don't even look for heartbeat unless I think baby is sleeping. It's almost 10pm here. BAby is usually busy at this time. Sound like return of the Jedi swords swooshing in there. Lol
