I actually knew a boy named Hatch when I was little. He lived in my neighborhood for a while. I remember thinking it was an odd name as a child.

I work in an inner city school.  I get some crazy names working there.  In the past I've had: J'Money (pronounced Jay-Monet)
    Jheyson (Jason)
    Angle (Angel)
    Qwaunzey
    Chanticlear

I sometimes think the parents find a bunch of scrabble letters and throw them on the floor to see what they come up with.

FWIW, I'm not married to a black man and I was pronouncing it the same way in my head.

  • I love my car! we are naming it boy fiesta! I'm glad that one wasn't on there!
  • I kind of like Pemberley :\"> but I've also never heard it before so maybe it has a not-so-great meaning that I'm just oblivious to?

I went to school with a Cali Burr, a Crystal Shanta Lier and a boy named Chevy. I also knew a Noel Leon (same backwards and forwards) but I kind of like that one :)
  • A friend of a friend named one child Cinema Echo (girl) and the other Artery (boy).

Is no one else disturbed by the fact that someone would name their daughter Ransom? Theres just something about it that doesnt sit well with me.

Also, isnt Pemberley from the pride and prejudice? Like the name of a town or property or something? Im about to go find the book to see...

Update: Pemberley is from the pride and the prejudice. Its it the name of Mr. Darcy's estate. I knew I had heard it somewhere!
