Dr. KK for improving egg quality??

Hi Girls, I'm feeling a little discouraged at the moment. I just made an appointment with Dr. KK for August 20th with my follow up on September 29th... so far away! I'm just having a hard time believing that this is going to help. Our issue is poor embryo quality most likely due to my eggs. My most recent doctor said that it was a metabolic issue, and that the egg is producing too much mitochondria. Something about my eggs not having enough energy, so the mitochondria is trying to compensate. I seem to hear most of the fuss with Dr. KK about MTHFR and NK cells... I just wonder if she's going to have anything worthwhile for me... Any thoughts on this?

She runs a battery of tests. If you have insulin imbalances or testosterone imbalances that could affect egg quality.

Only you can decide if it's worth the wait. I wish I would have seen her earlier than I did but I have egg quality issues and RPL so my story is a little different.

She does way more than the two things you mentioned. It's worth the wait.

It seems as though we have a very similar 'diagnosis'.. To me it's the diagnosis of exclusion when they can't find anything else. I have no advice with dr kk, as I am stuck and don't know what to do either, but if you already have the appointment you may as well go I would say. Enjoy the summer and wait and it'll be here in no time. Good luck to you.

I'm sorry you feel discouraged!! I was going to make an appointment with her, but then decided against it since my RE suggested intralipids with my next cycle. If my next cycle does not work I am definitely going to make the call.

It's hard to wait when all you want is a baby! I say keep the appointment. I have seen so many women move on to PAIF/SAIF after seeing a RI. Good luck sweetie!!

Thanks ladies. I am very much on the emotional roller coaster - there are so many options that we are considering and it is overwhelming at times! I go back and forth every day about the RI. One day I'm like, 'heck yeah, it'll be worth it even if she finds nothing worth treating. At least it'll give us the kick we need to move onto donor eggs' and the next day I'm like, 'everything is bad! Nothing is ever going to work! Woe is me!' I hate all of this so much!!! But complaining about it isn't going to change it, so I have to try to work it out. I appreciate your opinions and input! Thank you for chiming in

I hope the time flies by - I know when we took our treatment break from July-January, it was awful at first, but I felt like I normal human being for a little while. Then when we started up, I felt way more dedicated to it and doing everything possible. WIth this cycle, I'm not even thinking about it really at all. I'm doing what I need to be doing, but I don't feel as focused. I really hope she finds something!

I did see egg quality improvement when I was in treatment with her, but I had issues like hmz described. Our re had suggested considering donor eggs but agreed to let us try one last cycle because we had seen such improvement in my labs while with kk. It was the only cycle we had embies good enough to freeze as well as our only bfp. I know I have a biased opinion, but to me the wait is worth it.
