It sucks all around, especially if bio dad actually changed and wants to step up. Still traumatic for the girl and I think she should have been left with her parents.
I don't understand how anyone could think that this is what is best for the child. If he wants to be in her life then maybe ordering visitation, but this is just wrong.
There was a story not that long ago about adoptive parents who had to return the child to the bio mom... a few months later the child died. I can't remember how, I need to find the article.
@HilarityEnsued
We're on the same wavelength. If I had any doubts when she called and cried for me to come get her I would have started packing my bags.
I agree with the both of you. There is no doubt in my mind that I would kidnap my child back and go on the run.
I feel so sad for the girl and her adoptive parents...
But to play devil's advocate: the article said this has been going in since 2009. I'm more appalled by how the courts handled this. I don't think the man is an asshole for wanting his daughter back, but they snatched a nine year old away from her family with - what seems like - no notice/preparation. That's just disgusting!

I can't read the article. This is something I had nightmares about for years until we finalized with DS. The idea that the finalization isn't really final isn't something I can stomach.
While I can understand the biodad wanting to be involved in the girls life, the way he has gone about it shows he clearly either doesn't care or doesn't understand what would be best for the little girl. It makes me sick to think of what the little girl and her adoptive parents are going through.
I'm totally on the kidnap her back and run for it team!

I agree that it is shitty that his rights were illegally terminated and not all felons are violent horrible dads but at some point you just have to do what is best for the kid. If he wants to be a part of her life he should, by getting to know her. She doesn't even know who he is. And the article said his house was filthy and didn't have clean water. Way to go judge for not checking that out before sending a kid to live there '
Re: girl removed from adoptive parents to live with bio dad
Her poor parents. That poor girl.
That's all I can think.
I can't imagine any other solution. We would be gone.
