I will say one thing and what I am about to say is honest. I could continue on with name calling and any number of things that are painfully easy to do, but I am really wanting to give you something real.

The only way you have to communicate just exactly who you are in a setting like this is to present yourself in the best way possible. This means that you have to be mindful of your words. It really reads like you had this disability and so you decided a long time ago that you would just give up. It was probably easier. You probably also were surrounded by others who also didn't apply themselves. I understand that you may have a disability. That is unfortunate, but it is not why you never applied yourself.

Your education is so important for you and your children and honestly it is not too late to improve. I am sure that you want your children to have a better advantage than you did and the way to do that is to put importance on their education. It doesn't seem like anyone really believed in you and if they did, you squandered it.

What I really want you to take away from this is to think before you speak. Also, respect yourself enough to want change. You are really the only one who can do that.

OP I doubt you are still lurking around but if you are here is an honest answer to your questions, no insult or meaness intended:

1. A shower is a party to "shower" someone with gifts. Asking for gifts for yourself is always a social no-no. If you want to have a party to celebrate your pregnancy, throw yourself a party, but don't call it a shower. Even if you write "no gifts" people will want to bring one since it's a "shower".

2. To be honest, I don't see why you need a party/shower since it's not your first kid. What would be the point of the party, or the activities? It seems a bit of an attention-grabbing thing to want a party. I'm sure people said congratulations when you announced your pregnancy. Take it and leave it at that. You don't need a party for people to congratulate you more.

3. My husband is severely dyslexic so I feel you. But he is also obsessive about spell check or having me check over things before he sends them because he wants people to take him seriously. When you are in an online environment, how you write is all we have to form a perception of who you are. Take the time to proofread.

I went to Target after school and this thread explodes! That's what I get.

See...I have the odd feeling that even if I met OP in person I would feel the same way about her even without all the typing/grammar issues. She posts thread after thread but when has she ever said "congrats" to someone on their good a/s, or offered hugs or something for someone who was worried? In my book that's a good reason to be at least a little rude and condescending.

I missed it too! I liked what someone suggested to her yesterday about stepping away from the new thread button. Read threads STOP creating them.
