Nothing fits after baby!

What have you guys been doing about clothes post baby.  I still have about 5lbs to lose until I'm at pre-pregnancy weight but due to my c-section my belly just feels loser than normal...and more skin.  So my maternity jeans are too big and I'm always pulling them up, but my pre-pregnancy jeans, while they finally button, BARELY fit.  I can't actually wear them, because I can't sit down in them.  I really don't want to go buy new jeans for just a few weeks, but what have you guys been doing about being in between sizes?

I've been wearing maternity pants.. Even though they are big. But I rarely leave the house due to my lifting restriction so I've been living in sweatpants and yoga pants. Hot stuff over here!

  • It was 4 months the last time before I could wear real jeans. I was never able to fit into prepregnancy clothes. I say just get new jeans.
  • Leggings. Nothing but leggings. Getting so sick of it.

I went to Target to try to buy a few dresses or something to ride out this awkward phase and it was sad. I lost all the baby weight but my belly sure doesn't look like it.

I know right???! My bottoms all fit but none of my shirts fit over my massive BF boobs. I was barely a B cup before DD and after weaning her, so all I have now are maternity clothes and tops that are too tight in the chest. I'm going shopping this weekend.

  • My belly has been various stages of pitting edema since my c-section 4 weeks ago. So out of the house, I wear leggings or yoga pants. Around the house I wear maxi dresses and swim cover ups.
  • I bought a pair of shorts a size up from my prepregnancy size and basic v-neck tshirts from target in a few colors and that's literally all I've been wearing when I go in public. We don't go out too often anyway, mainly just for walks.

  • I'm five pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant but my pre-pregnancy clothes still don't fit in the waist after my c-section. I had some low panel maternity pants that I've been wearing. Sometimes I'll wear the full panel pants and just roll the panel down. Other than that, yoga pants. I plan to wear yoga pants and pass them off as slacks with heels and a dressy top.
  • Yoga pants/capris. I did buy 1 pair of jean capris but it's still painful if I try to wear anything around my incision scar.

  • I gained some extra weight and my boobs are HUGE - a good 3 sizes up, so they fit in nothing. I ran to the thrift store today to buy an armload of clothes to get me through the next couple of months. I'm mostly rocking maternity leggings and stretchy tank tops and not-done-up zippered hoodies at the moment. When I'm not just naked in my apartment, that is.

  • I'm rotating between my leggings, yoga pants and fat jeans with a hole in the thigh. I wear 3 shirts I got from old navy. I still have about 15lbs to loose.

  • Ya, my body will never be the same. Nothing fits and I still have 20+ lbs to lose. Nice.

I have a few pairs of jeans that fit, and have bought a few tops.   I'm pretty close to being able to fit into SOME of my pre-preg jeans (that biggest sizes), but most of my tops don't fit because my boobs are so much bigger.  My weight has completely re-distributed (used to be a pear, now I'm more of an apple), so I think I'm going to have to do a lot of shopping.

  • I'm still ~13 lbs up from prepreg weight and I hear ya on the "redistribution" issues. I need to unearth my summer work wardrobe and be realistic what will actually fit. Scary. :-S I sense a shopping trip will be in order since I return on 5/27. At least I can bank on Memorial Day sales!
  • All of the above is me too. I gained about 45lbs during this pregnancy and lost 25lbs of if so far. The other 20 my body doesn't seem to want to let go and it is so frustrating & depressing. I look at all of my clothes in my closet and think of how nothing fits. Even my shirts don't fit because of my boobs.

I'm extremely anxious to get the weight off but even while following the weight watcher diet + BFing + working out, nothing is working. And while I like shopping, I don't like the idea of shopping for clothes a few sizes up.

I've got 9lbs to go but that's not the problem, my hips are so much wider post labor that my maternity jeans don't fit either.

So, leggings. Leggings and skirts and dresses. So so sick of it.

  • So do our hips ever go back to the way that they were? FTM here and praying that is the case.
  • I have about 10 lbs to go and my hips are definitely wider so my pre-PG clothes don't really fit either. I have one pair of early maternity jeans I can wear. The rest of the time I wear yoga pants or dresses.

  • I ran to forever 21 and bought a few cute flowy tops and 2 pairs of linen capris with stretchy waistband. Their clothes are always pretty cheap so they're perfect to hold u over at a weight/size u won't be at forever. I found it worth the 90 bucks I spent on a weeks worth of cute clothes I can now wear and feel good or at least better. Oh and yes I still have 10 lbs to lose and nothing fits. It took 4 months with ds so I fully expected this

  • I have always been very short and petite. After baby #1, I lost all my baby weight and even lost five more pounds after that but never returned to my pre-pregnancy size bc my hip bones spread and never went back to "normal". I ended up buying a lot of new clothes because of it. I have heard a lot of women can eventually get back into their pre-pregnancy pants (and some even can right away!) but I never could. I was very flat and stick like before baby. I ended up with hips and boobs after baby that I never had before, almost like my body finally went through puberty, lol.

Yoga pants and dresses. It's my only option right now..

    This.
I also caved and went out and bought some shorts since it's been so hot here.

@homediva, I had the exact same gain as you and am in the same boat. I have 10lbs to lose from this pregnancy, but still have another 15lbs to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight from the 2 pregnancies I had right before this one. I did CrossFit up until the day I delivered, but between the increase of 4 cup sizes, my c-section swelling and the fact that my hips are WAY wider than normal, I think it's going to be a while before my clothes fit, if ever! It takes almost 10 months to put it on, it can take just as long or longer to take it off.

    ~~Everyone Always Welcome~~

  • @homediva‌ I am right there with you. I gained 60# and have 40 to lose still. Nothing fits me, pants or shirts. Wearing my 3 maternity t shirts and yoga pants. At home I just strut around in a robe. Super jealous of those who had it melt off. Try to tell myself it took 9 months so be patient.
  • @homediva‌ lurker here, but with my first I went from 125 to 216. Trying to loose the last 40 or so was the most depressing time ever. Hugs. Keep your head up.
  • @homediva, right there with you! I'm at 170 now, need to loose 20lb to be where I was pre-pregnancy & another 10 to be where I am happy with myself! Once I am cleared for exercise it's on! Assuming my csection will let me..

I recommend buying a pair or two of pants/jeans that fit.  You'll feel better in actual clothes instead of yoga pants, sweats, or what have you.  At least, I do.  I bought some online from NY&Co.  Not where I normally shop, but they were inexpensive and were delivered to my door.  Last pregnancy, I didn't lose the final 10lbs until I went back to work.  I'm just not active enough to lose it on maternity leave.

  • I gained 45-50 this pregnancy and I have 25 more to lose. We're moving and for some reason I packed most of my clothes away once we put our house up for sale and right now all I have are my maternity clothes! They're big and getting bigger, thank god. But I don't want to unpack any of my pre pregnancy clothes any time soon and feel sad.

Oh my gosh. I'm still a good 35lb from my pre-pregnant weight. I hate all my clothes. Even my go-to maxi dresses are hard to wear because of EBF. I feel like whenever I read a thread like this, no one else is as over as I am! I went from 135 to 196 this pregnancy. Now I'm just under 170. Ugh. I don't get it - I eat pretty good!

Ahhhhhhh thanks everyone! I guess I'm not alone! I gained 50+ with my first and lost it (with a lot of hard work) then gained 10 with an in-between pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. I can't wait to get down again - I do recommend buying at least one sexy nightie!

Anyway I'm going to go eat my thai takeout lol.

Yeah, I actually bought a maternity skirt (one of those old navy foldover ones) today.  I am 4 weeks PP and the reality is that I have no summer clothes that fit or are going to fit for awhile.  And hey, it was on sale.
    I freakin' love those skirts.
  • @homediva I still have 20lbs to go, don't feel bad. Your body changes the way it needs to change, and it will go back. This phase is just so damn awkward, kind of like the beginning of pregnancy when you just look kinda chubby.
  • I basically live in Maxi skirts. I'm only down 15lbs and gained 40 this pregnancy, but had lost a bunch of weight with a lot of hard work just before getting pregnant (was at my lowest in almost 5 years and bam- preggers!). Anyway, it took me 9 months to a year last time, expecting the same this time. My belly hasn't even shrunk all the way down yet. I just bought pants 3 sizes bigger than when I got pregnant today, but they fit! I'm ready to have a button and fly some days again.
