I started at 7 mos old, 4 mos adjusted. It was a struggle in the beginning because they kept pushing the spoon out of their mouth with their tongue, but I continued trying and within a month they got it.
About 7m actual, 4.5 adjusted. We waited until she started showing interest in solids. Cereal was not a hit for us, so we ended up moving straight to purees.
This, except she was like 6.5 actual, 4.5 adjusted. Started with rice cereal and she hated it, so we went right into avocado & sweet potato purées.
We started cereal and purees at 6 months adjusted. She wasn't having it, so we tabled it for a couple months before trying again (it was a whole saga).
We started at 6mo actual / 4.5mo adjusted. They were ready and we did cereal once or twice before moving on to a combo of purees and BLW. We transitioned to full time BLW around 9.5mo actual / 8mo adjusted.
We never did cereal, but we started purees at 6 months actual, 3.5 months adjusted. We only did 1 meal/day at that point and moved up very slowly. They were showing a lot of interest in our food by that point.
We also skipped cereal, as she never really liked it. We tried BLW when she was about 7mos/4.5 adjusted and she wasn't really having it. We just kept trying and at about 8mos actual she got the hang of it. She still isn't into BLW but loves purées and puffs.
