I have a fever...help...my milk supply is shot!

The last two days I have had a 103 fever with no appetite. I was trying to drink as much as I could keep down, I barely got up except to nurse my 6.5 month old. Luckily she is eating 3 solid meals a day. I noticed on the second day of my fever I had almost no milk. She would try to nurse and stayed on forever but the let down never occurred...of course she got frustrated. I hear it should pick back up when I am feeling back to normal and eating well again. It was only two days like this, and today I am much better and eating well. Has this happened to anyone? If so, anything I can help to increase other then having her nurse as often as possible....just tell me it will go back to normal please :(

  • It will!  My milk production has always seemed to lag a bit behind how I feel in general when it comes to recovery from sickness.  Hang in there!

  • I have had it happen more than once (I have been sick this winter). As long as you keep nursing/pumping, it will return within a day or two of the fever being gone. Keep eating and drinking for sure!
