I think fertility medications and treatment are directly related to the increase in reported cases of autism, allergies, etc.
Not knocking them, but I'm suspicious.
I am so angry, I don't think I can respond to this.

The data used to connect autism and vaccinations has been proven to be faulty. I prefer not to take my medical advice from a former playboy bunny.
I'm much more inclined to think the allergies are from pollution and the increase of chemicals in our environment.

5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.

Yes, and I'll just leave this link here for anyone who actually wants to read about Andrew Wakefield and the data and findings that he falsified (not to mention patients he actually harmed) to ultimately feed his own financial interests.

I'm actually deep in the oncology bowels of PubMed for work, but I may be able to pull up some of the vaccine literature later this afternoon during *groan* a 4 hour meeting. I posted a link above to a brief history of the Andrew Wakefield ordeal, which is pretty decent starting point in terms of evaluating the origins of one of the loudest voices in the anti-vax movement.

Lol my suspicions about the medication don't make me judge the women who take them.
As women wait later to start families, and conception naturally has seemingly become more difficult, I can't help but to think the medications required are somehow related.
And to the one who asked if I have scientific proof, I don't. It was going to be my research component in grad school when I was dreaming of being a maternal-fetal specialist..
I respect the choices you make to conceive, and I'm not opposed to them myself.

It's ok ladies! I'm here with scientific facts. I worked in an ivf lab and all fertility clinics are required to track certain data on any patient who does a "cycle" which is basically starts any kind of treatment. Even if the cycle was cancelled for any reason we had to track it. We also kept track of our patients for years as many came back for treatment when they were ready for more children. We also did an annual reunion. The dr would research any medical issues the kids had even as they got older to see if we could improve our processes. Autism is not linked. Out of all those kids we never had a reported case of autism. Maybe there are some and they didn't report but we would have known if it was a widespread issue.

Referring to a woman's age is NOT the way to go here... my sister is 21 and has been told she is not producing enough eggs, has endometriosis and has both tubes blocked (this is after surgery for the endo and two ovarian cysts)... Age is not the only fertility issue by far!
I think people who drive an SUV or full size truck alone on a longer commute are being wasteful. And I was one of those people! I drive 40 miles each way to work and was driving by myself in an Acadia...stupid waste of gas! Carpool, take public transportation, get a small commuter car...something else. I just die a little when I see a big ass truck that gets maybe 14 MPG tooling down the interstate with me and the dude inside is in a suit!

In addition to this, at this point in time the FDA requires many drugs to have Phase IV trials or "PMAs" - post marketing authorization surveillance, which includes official patient registries. These registries track patients for long term safety and, in the case of drugs during pregnancy or conception, the health outcomes of offspring. There is a ton of retrospective work done in these areas collecting & crunching data.
Also, a general comment for all, let's not forget that correlation does NOT imply causation. Let's get some R-squared values up in here if we want to talk actual causation.

UO: I hate hashtags. HATE HATE HATE. Especially facebook posts with multiple hashtags like a photo of a your dog with #puppylove #rescuedog #lovemypets
Now that that is cleared up, my uo is that I can't stand the simpson's or sponge bob square pants. I think they are both stupid and annoying!
I totally agree on Sponge Bob. He's not allowed at my house. I see no redeeming value to it.
I'm not a huge Simpson's fan, but there's actually more depth to the show than you would think. In a college course on theology and the mass media, we had an in-depth discussion on the Simpson's.
I'll just say this: I'm a 27-year-old healthy female married to a 31-year-old healthy male and I wouldn't be pregnant without fertility drugs. Yeah they're sure as heck not something to screw around with but they're also not something to randomly(??) connect(??) to Autism(?!) or allergies(???) or anything else.
Sorry, but no. You don't get to make up very specific hypotheses on where these things come from with no scientific backing.
I agree that there's probably a link to the amount of crap we put in our bodies - processed foods, chemicals in our environment, maybe even too many meds. But singling one out with no justification is ridiculous.

The first documented case of autism dates back to 1747... long before this so-called vaccine "overloading" Also people fail to realize that diagnostic tools and techniques have improved as well as screening which could be the culprit to the "increase" in cases as opposed to back in the day when people called folks "slow", "crazy" or "demon-possessed".

Age has not a damn thing to do with it. I am 26 years old. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility at the age of 21. There have been 100s of women I have come into contact with over my years on TB that are under the age of 35 (considered AMA for having a baby) with infertility issues. As stated previously, this is a topic you need to have more than enough proof on before you go spouting at the mouth on such a very serious issue.
My UO is when people post pictures of their engagement ring on facebook. Especially within minutes of becoming engaged. It's just tacky IMO. I have better things to do after becoming engaged than get on facebook.
And to lighten it up in here with an AW.. I got engaged last night during dinner for our anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My UO: I don't like Kathy Lee and Hoda and I think NBC messed up when they put them on the Today Show
They're the ones who just sit and drink and gossip, right? Every time I see them I'm like, "How is this a show? How is this on TV right now?"
There's so many shows on TV right now that I wonder the exact same thing. I just don't understand the need for all these reality shows and I really hate how shows get cancelled now at the drop of a hat.
@yougin12: I know right. Give some of these good shows a chance. I forget about shows because they don't let them stay on long enough. Kinda sad about Trophy Wife being canccelled, not gonna lie!

Let's see some science, ladies. Don't just toss out those opinions as though they've been corroborated. I demand evidence! ::Insert gavel gif::
