I'll start. I feel a disconnect between the baby I am expecting and what is currently in my uterus. Like, I've been planning for this baby, he's got his own room and his car seat is in my car and I can't WAIT to meet him....but it kind of feels like someone is just going to drop him off at my house. I don't know what my sub-conscience thinks is squirming around inside of me, but it's just not connecting the two. Like I'm going to give birth to an octopus and then come home to a cute little baby just chilling on my couch.
I had my first instance of boob leakage last night and I was ridiculously excited about it. I was starting to feel like it was never going to happen, which was causing me to start to freak out about breastfeeding (though my head knows it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad). Anyway, never thought I would be so excited to have a random substance coming out of my boob!

I also worry about loving this baby as much as DD. I'm team green, so it's also a little harder to connect. However, I'm a second child and feel just as loved as my brother.
I have decided to give birth at my dentist's office. They have the fun gas that makes you feel like you've had one too many glasses of wine, and my OBs don't offer it. I'll just tell them I have a toothache, sit in their little chair gulping down their gas, poop out Charlie, and then get up and take him home with me. It'll be a magical experience shared with my dental hygenist and the TV they have on the ceiling so you can watch while they fill your cavity.
I totally feel a disconnect too and cried about this the other night. I think the closer I get to having the baby the more freaked out I'm getting about everything - labor, birth, our lives changing. DH keeps saying "this is what you wanted" and it makes me want to smack him. Of course its what I want but its still a huge change and its overwhelming sometimes!
@mrsgerman - you should've gotten it by now. It looked kind of like junk mail and I almost threw mine out. You can always try contacting the store though if you don't get it soon.
For all those not feeling connected, it's totally normal. It's also totally normal and healthy to not feel the immediate bond at birth. They put C on my stomach and first thought was "thank god you're out! You're kind of cute. I'm exhausted. Yay I'm nursing. Who the hell is this child?" It took a good couple of weeks for me to feel the intense love and overwhelming bond that people talk about feeling right at birth. Totally normal.

They do this in the UK!!! They call it "gas and air" and you get your own little puffer thingy you can suck on throughout labor! I've seen it on "One Born Every Minute" and it looks awesome! The US needs to catch the hell up and start offering this!

I was born over there, as were my two older siblings. My mom was ripshit when she had my little brother in the US and they didn't give her any!
I'm pretty sure you can buy it off the internet. We totes should get some black market stuff and huff in the in the bathroom. That or just bring a lot of whipped cream cans......
Dr "33 weeks! Good job!" (Only time I think I've seen a genuine smile on his face) Me "I know! I thought for sure I was going to have him right after getting out of the hospital!" Dr "Me too!!!"
Umm...So why was I released?!!!! Anyways, appointment went well, still taking it easy and playing the bedrest/waiting game.
Also, Netflix is broken and I am extremely stabby and biting my tongue (or fingers?) and not commenting on some of the threads.

I'm on board with the whipped cream cans! Gas is catching on in the US, but not quickly. I keep asking my MWs if they'll start a trial with me as the sole participant.
Have you ladies seen the video of the cat that chased off a dog attacking a little boy?! It was crazy! Let me see if I can find the link in case anyone is curious.
ETA: here is is. It's not very graphic but it could be upsetting so watch at your own discretion!
Speaking of not being connected to the thing growing inside...what is this?! All of our ultrasound pictures look like some sort of creepy alien! This was yesterday at 34 weeks, wtf is that? I love him but he scares me.
I feel connected and love towards these babies, I talk to them occasionally (mostly to tell them to stop fighting and kicking each other) and I can't wait to see them when they're here.... but to me, they still don't look like babies. Every week I look up what babies look like delivered at x, y, z amount of weeks and every week my mind is blown that they look like actual babies at this point. I don't know what I expected was in my uterus.

^I almost threw mine out too.
I keep forgetting to ask my OB about nitrous, but I doubt it's being used at my hospital yet/again.

I had a U/S last Thursday and my 2 year old niece was with us. She'd look up at the screen and tell my sister "ooh scary mama" she obviously couldn't figure it out either. lol

My coworker is going to be on the news tonight because he helped deliver a baby over the phone (911 dispatcher)!!! Couple was minutes from the hospital, but had to pull over. So proud of my coworker!
I got bit by a spider on my ankle last night and now my whole lower leg/ankle/foot is super swollen and itchy. As if pregnancy swelling wasn't enough now I have spider bite swelling too. I feel like my leg is going to explode. No bueno.
My cousin had twin girls with "help". I say it that way because I'm not exactly sure what she had done. IVF or something. Anyways not my point. Yesterday some other mom had the nerve to tell her to take her sweet baby girls home from the park bc the little science freaks were not welcome around her children!!! WTAF! I was so mad when I heard this! How could someone treat another human with the disrespect that my cousin and her children got? My cousin went through hell and back to get those girls and I just feel bad for her!
WTF ^^^! I can NOT believe someone would call children science freaks! That mom can suck it!!! It doesn't matter how children come into our lives. What a bitch!!
My cousin said she was very nice about the whole thing because her girls were there. She just got her girls and went home and after her husband came home she came unglued. She did say that she wanted to choke the lady! She has way more restraint than I would have had!!!
I have an irrational fear of tonight's full moon. I'm terrified that I'm going to go into labor because of it. I even did a run-through with DF to make sure we are on the same page.
DH and I just had a "what we're going to do when I'm in labor" run down....again. Just in case lol. So you're not alone!

Crap...maybe that's why I'm extra uncomfortable tonight
@nutmegs8 DHs grandma is convinced that I'm going to go into labor tonight bc of the full moon. And I am currently home.with said grandma who can't drive at night, and DH is taking his sweet ass time getting home.
@kaysa2 please tell me to myob if needed but do you refer to your partner as BFF? Because I think that's really sweet
@elsa1688 - I use BFF because he is. I'm a lesbian, and I knocked myself up with a $2 baby medicine syringe and a cup of his sperm. He's totally engaged with the whole baby thing though. And we live together, so he's super convenient for child care!
This is quite possibly the coolest thing I have read on this board ^:)^
Not sure if this is where to post this. My perinatologist suggested that most likely I will be induced at 37 weeks. When I asked my OB she made it sound like it isn't as likely. Who would typically make the final decision (other than me) I want what is best for the baby, but not sure who would make a better decision there between a perinatologist and an OB

We asked the midwives - no dice at ballard
These were my thoughts exactly but my mom was trying to say I need a "keepsake" but I don't think so plus his baby book is a keepsake lol
The mom ran after the dog, I believe. Not really sure why, but I guess people react in strange ways in instances like these.
