Re: Baby names!

  • The names we have picked for a boy is Malachi Daniel
And for a girl kaylah Elaine
(: I know it's early, but never to early to look into something my baby will be stuck with forever!

  • This is one of the most fun parts! For a boy (which I think we're having...): Huxley, Fitzgerald, Davis, or Amos. For a girl: Prudence, Noelle, or Daisy. We obviously love books. :) How about y'all?!

  • Love the name prudence ever since charmed lol :) and I agree picking names makes it more real for me :)

    Francesca Lina or Joseph Vincent

    DS: Anthony Frank
  •  Maybe Lucia (Lu-see-ah, like St. Lucia is pronounced in Sweden).
I LOVE the name Lucia! Growing up, we did a St Lucia procession every year, and I just loved wearing a crown of construction paper candles, lol! And it was actually a public school :)

  • Our only criteria for names is that its a Bible name. For boys the runners right now are Joseph, or James, I love the name Simeon, but I'd feel bad once they start studying higher order primates in school....

Girls, Ruth or Esther, maybe Priscilla

I love Lucia too. It sounds goofy with our last name, but if it sounds good with yours, that's definitely a keeper.

H and I have been talking about names ever since the last thread on the subject. We are thinking Everette Miles for a boy. For a girl we are more torn. Maybe Lucia (Lu-see-ah, like St. Lucia is pronounced in Sweden). We are also considering Amelie or Ruby June. Ruby June is totally our favorite for a little girl, but we aren't sure how it would age. I'm not sure if I can picture a neuroscientist or president Ruby June... Lol
We're thinking Ruby, too. But Ruby Susannah (then nickname could be Ruby Sue!). And I know what you mean - Ruby doesn't exactly have gravitas does it? It's cute as a button, though. DH is 100% sure, but I'm still waffling.

  • I really like Edrick!

For a boy we was thinking Noah....still thinking of middle name.....for a gyrl Zelene Elizabeth or Elizabeth Zelene....After both our grandmothers

Btw, I love Huxley, especially with the nickname Huck! It totally makes me think of Huckleberry Finn.
Yes! So fun! Ruby is adorable! And who would've thought Barack was a presidential moniker? Our babies could turn it all around for their future namesakes... :)

  • Everett is very nice!

We're thinking Melody Lynae (lin-ay) or Parker Lee (parker is my maiden name). So fun!
  • We are so lost on names. We had some, and then the boy and girl first names were both in top 20 for 2013 so I think we need to think about it more. We want something familiar but not very common. We don't really want to name our child "after" anyone in our families or otherwise. DH isn't very into it right now (names).

My sister and I had the most hilarious time looking up "biblical" baby names.  I think I've landed on Girgashite.  Also, if you want a good laugh, look up Puritan names.  Humiliation Barebone is a good one.

But seriously, we have our names set :)  John "Jack" Patrick or Elizabeth "Libby" Anne.

  • We've had our boy name picked out for about ten years now. Lukas Michael. For a girl I'm pretty sure I'm set on Holly Lynn.

If it's a boy it'll be Tyrion Khal...
Is this from Game of Thrones?  Uuuuuuuuuh well to each his own I guess.

  • Please don't name your daughter Ariyah Kalysse... That's cruel.

  • I just feel like any name that you have to spell phonetically for people to understand is a bad choice. Just think about how miserable that kids life is going to be.

I was more referring to when people change the spelling of a name or make up a new name just to be unique. From working in places where you need to get someone's name and need it to be spelled correctly, this becomes a miserable experience for everyone involved.

    .
I've liked the name Brienne for years (especially as a middle name) and now I'm afraid ppl will think that's what we got it from if we use it lol
  • Btw since some are so honest and I'm insecure about our name choices so far I'm going to go ahead and post some of the names that haven't been moved to the no way list yet and see if anyone thinks they're a horribly cruel thing to name a child. Lol just be honest as it really won't hurt my feelings.

    Boy: Wallace, Levi

Girl: Celia, Cecelia, Rose, Roseline, Cora, Brienne
  • I have had names picked out for 10 years! =)

    Girl: Crystal Lynn
    Boy: Calvin Lee

@lhbird87‌ I think all the girl names are lovely, and Levi is great too. Not too crazy about Wallace...

    @qristinap‌ calvin is so great!

And no, I don't believe Brienne is a bad choice. I don't think Game of Thrones.

  • We are thinking Andrew Ray and Arianna Ann. My teenage daughter wants to keep the A going her name is Angelica. With Andrew you can call him drew or Andy and for Arianna you can call her Ari.

I giggle when I see everyone with the nicknames already listed.

My daughters name is Martha, we called her Mandy from the moment she was born. Every one we know called her Mandy. Since she was about a year old, she ignores anyone who calls her anything BUT Martha. Now that she is older when someone who isn't around much calls her Mandy, she yells "NO! I Mawfa!" Lol

This is so sweet. I definitely have nicknames that I think are cute/ would like to use, but I'm not obsessively sticking to them if something else comes up or my own child hates it lol.

  • Yes I know people automatically think of Game of Thrones when they hear the name I've tried to convince my husband to change at least one of the names but the names actually come from family and a friend (friends name is calisee) I actually had never seen the show and till we mentioned our possible name choices for girls 3 years ago we found out we were pregnant with our first child that we miscarried. They only reason we chose to change the spelling to kalysee was because my initials are akc and my husband wanted our daughter to have my initials. Although after all the hateful comments I afraid all she would receive is ridicule which is sad because her namesakes never received ridicule for their names.

Your friends were not ridiculed because they were born before the books/show and are not joining the ranks of thousands of other kids being named after a show that they will probably never even see.Plus it wasn't one person with both names. Thirdly, the last thing you want your child to do it have to spell her name for people multiple times a day for the rest of her life. I speak from experience.

Giving me a first name that is hard to spell and hard to pronounce is is the most fucked up thing my mother ever did to me and trust me, that is not an easy task because she has done things that rank up there.
  • We were DEADSET on Abigail and now I am not. My husband hates the nn Abby and its become so popular that I think I have to let it go.

My husband, surprisingly, likes Fiona so we'll see.
  • Everett is very nice! We're thinking Melody Lynae (lin-ay) or Parker Lee (parker is my maiden name). So fun!
I LOVE Parker Lee and I also used my maiden name for DS Connor (O'Connor).

For a boy it will definitely be Dominic.  I have no clue for a girl.  I have loved Aria forever but it is a no go after Game of Thrones....even though I have never seen a single episode I just find it to over done now.

  • If it's a boy we're naming him Brock Michael after DH's older brother who died as a result of premature birth. DH only stayed in 3 weeks longer than his brother did and by the grace of God survived, so it's always meant a lot to him that if he has a boy he names it for his brother. And if it's a girl I think we've finally settled on Amelia Shae :-)

    Anniversary

  • We had Garrett Scott (DH's grandpa and Dad's names) picked out before we found out DD's gender so we will go with that if this baby is a boy. If we have another girl, we will have to come up with something new.
  • We like Avery or Aria for a girl. Middle name will likely be Katherine, after my grandmother.

A boy is so tough! I really like Eli and Jase, and DH doesn't care for either of those. We are both just okay about Ezra.
Jimmie, mama to Zoey (March 2011)
    Losses 5/13, 8/13, and 3/14.
Expecting another GIRL! Carter Grace due on 12/25.

This response makes me a little sad. My daughter is a citizen of another country and we gave her a name that is difficult to pronounce and spell by most Americans, but it is a perfectly legitimate and IMO very beautiful name. We are raising her in America, but want her to feel connected to her other country and heritage. I really hope she doesn't grow up to think her father and I fucked her over by giving her that name.

I certainly did not mean to make you sad. For me, personally, it has been a hassle. I live in the south, and my area is still very much racist. By having a name like I do, it often gave me difficulties obtaining work.
At once point, I changed the name on my resume to Kay, and sent it to some of the exact same places I had already previously sent it the week before. I was to say 12 places? 5 contacted me, asking for Kay and not my real name. Of those 5, I was offered 3 positions.
They were seeing my name and not even reading my resumes.

I'm really not anymore. It was supposed to be a middle name and is a family surname. But I don't like either of those things as a first name. Back to the drawing board.. Or maybe we will just wait til we find out the gender then worrying about names will be half the work. We may not need boy names after all haha

For a boy we chose Pierce
    and for a girl Savannah
Middle names to be decided. :)
