It's been a while since we've talked about books, so lets hear it...what are you reading? What have you read recently that you really like?
And also because I'm curious, here's a book survey:
- What is your fav/main genre?
- Do you have a favorite author(s)?
- What genre(s) do you dislike?
- How many books do you typically read per year?
- What is your favorite classic book?
Re: What are you reading??
Currently reading Anathem by Neal Stephenson. It's taking me far too long to get through it, but that's because I'm too tired at night to get through anything more than just a few pages.
DD1: June 2014 - VBM4lyfe
DD2: October 2016
DC3: coming May 2019
Fav genre: I like paranormal fiction (not necessarily paranormal "romance" which most books seem to be categorized as.) Anything with witches, vampires, werewolves, fairies, demons, etc.
Genre dislike: anything boring or that I can't relate to... I don't want to read about politics or mathematics and I have trouble reading books where I can't pronounce the characters names.
Fav authors: Kim Harrison, Ilona Andrews and Kelley Armstrong
Books read per year: It usually works out to be a book a day, sometimes every other day. So anywhere from 150-300 per year.
Fav classic: pride and prejudice by Jane Austen

Baby #1: expected June 2014
What are you reading? What have you read recently that you really like? Currently I'm reading The Happiest Baby on the Block... I may finish before LO arrives, but I usually fall asleep while reading it. I recently read The Sheen on the Silk and Major Pettigrew's Last Stand and really liked both.
Currently reading The Bradley Method (personal) and Fat Land: How Americans Became the Fattest People In the World (school). Hope to add a fiction book in there once class ends next week. I just finished The Book Thief, which I saw some of you loved...I really wanted to but it just wasn't detailed or emotionally connecting for me. It's a decent read I guess, just not a fav.
-What have you read recently that you really like?
Before The Book Thief I read Looking for Alaska, which was somewhat depressing but actually made me feel a little better about the concept of death. The best book I have read recently was Silver Linings Playbook (yes, the one the movie was made from). Fantastic read.
I love YA fiction, especially science fiction/fantasy. Followed by dystopic fiction. Followed by health/fitness and humor.
I love Christopher Moore. And I used to love Ted Dekker books, but he kinda sold out so not as much anymore. But there are a lot more than those two, they're just the ones I can think of who each wrote 3 books I greatly enjoy.
Historical/religious nonfiction (which is DH's favorite genre so we've got the bases covered)
Smut
I aim for at least one per month and can usually do two, so 24.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Because I just love depressing novels apparently.
J14 Jan Siggy Challenge: Santorini
- What is your fav/main genre? contemporary fiction, crime fiction, thrillers/horror/mystery, and some YA...I like everything well written except for most romances and paranormal mysteries.
- Do you have a favorite author(s)? Right now it's Gillian Flynn. I'm obsessed with her books and writing style. Big fan of Stephen King and Curtis Sittenfeld (sp?). John Green, but I do not get the hype behind The Fault in Our Stars, Alaska was WAY better.
- What genre(s) do you dislike? Romance and erotic anything. I'm bored by sex scenes in books, so when that's the focus of the whole I spend the entire time rolling my eyes and skimming pages.
- How many books do you typically read per year? About 65...Although this year I am incredibly behind on my 50 goal. Can't seem to focus.
- What is your favorite classic book? Either Little Women or TKAM. Although the book I've read more times than I can count is Matilda by Roald Dahl, it helped me out of some tough times as a kid.
I love to read but have had NO desire to while pregnant and if I try to read anything I just fall asleep. I hope my love of reading comes back after this baby exits.
I have tried to read the same book every summer since I was 18 (I am 31) and I finally finished it this last summer, I would say it was the best feeling ever but I hate that book so much! Every summer I start it all over again, I start the weekend of memorial day and have until labor day to finish it. I have lost the book, burned the book, thrown it overboard into Lake Michigan, I have spilled beverages on it, etc. so my husband bought me a kindle so I had to read it and couldn't destroy it. It is an ongoing joke of how far I will get each summer before I destroy it. So this last summer we had 4 weddings and did A LOT of traveling and I finally finished it. Anyways the book is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

What have you read recently that you really like? Just the other day I finished Breakable by Tammara Webber, which is an alternate point of view/prequel to the book Easy.
- What is your fav/main genre?
Not sure I have a favorite, but lately I have been favoring ya and new/contemporary adult fiction. Though my current fav book series is historical fiction (All Souls Trilogy)
- Do you have a favorite author(s)?
I love Deborah Harkness' books! (All Souls Trilogy), but don't particularly have an all time favorite author.
- What genre(s) do you dislike?
I prefer fiction and really only read non-fiction if I have to or for learning purposes. I also don't really like fantasy, horror or super sci-fi kinds of things.
- How many books do you typically read per year?
Well I have an audible account that I get one book per month, every so often I buy a second and I do a lot of re-reading. I'd probably buy more if I wasn't on a budget.
- What is your favorite classic book?
I like Jane Austin and most Shakespeare.
- What is your fav/main genre?
I love mystery/suspense
- Do you have a favorite author(s)?
I really like Dean Koontz but i don't really have a fav
- What genre(s) do you dislike?
It's really hard for me to get into books, so I basically only read mystery/suspense. They're the only types of books that can get me hooked.
- How many books do you typically read per year?
no idea. Not many unfortunately.
- What is your favorite classic book?
Hmmm I can't think of one off the top of my head...
