Nursing getting harder?

I plan to nurse until Matthew is a year and then let him wean himself whenever he chooses.

But is anyone else noticing it getting more difficult to nurse as they get bigger??? At home I nurse laying down so he can kick and squirm as he pleases but when we're out and I can't do that it's so hard to hold him when he's wiggling! And he constantly wants to look around and talk to people as he's trying to eat.

Any tips? Covered or uncovered doesn't matter. He still moves the cover to see everyone.

Oh man! The kicking, and hitting, and on/off on/off on/off. Or he pops off when I get a letdown ugh! When we go out we just nurse in the car. Soooooo much easier that way.

Ah. Yes. Also, his cues are all over the damn place. I nursed him in public at my sisters graduation- twice in a stairwell and once in a reception room no one was in. He would nurse for like five seconds and then done! But pulling on my shirt/ nursing my arm all day. I was so confused.

Also, I think I have developed anemia now. I'm bruised all over for no reason. I have been bad at taking my prenatals, so I am going to do better at that and see if it clears up. I eat well though so I'm disappointed my diet doesn't provide the iron I need.

I keep jokingly telling DH I'm in an abusive relationship with our 5 month old. Yesterday he was so excited to see me he grabbed me by both cheeks to kiss me and pinched my cheek so hard it was red for hours!

I fondly remember these days with DD as "Nursing Gymnastics" or "Nursing Olympics". It does get better eventually. I find that if I give DS a blanket to hold that keeps his hands busy. They also have nursing necklaces that LO can play with while they eat. Another thing that helped me was teaching DD and DS to eat while sitting on my lap. It can take a little getting used to but once they are used to it they can kind of look off to the side and that is enough to appease their fascination. Another trick I used was letting them snack on solid foods while we were out and about and then BF them when you get home. Doesn't necessarily solve the problem but made life a little easier.

I think I found a trick, or it is a coincidence- but worth a try. H gets three strikes and then she's out- if she pops off 3 times the boob goes away. Usually after 2 distractions she gets with the program after I announce the boob is going away. But again, maybe the iguana told her and I have nothing to do with it...

Yes, yes, all of the above. Every daytime nursing session is like a wrestling match. What's even worse is I think this is the reason he is waking up so often at night these days... not getting enough calories during the day. Argh!

I am going to try some of the tricks others mentioned....

Levi throat punches me and kicks the opposite boob while digging his fingers into my nostrils and wiggling like a worm on drugs - not that I have ever seen a worm on drugs - but that's the best way I could put it. Oh and he's a contortionist through and through.

We have been having this issue too. I finally resolved to try and use a cover, but she moved it out of the way and laughed at me. That was a total fail!

All of this! As much as Jase loves to eat, he seems to love squeezing my boobs even more. He pops off, talks to my nipple and then proceeds to pinch it. He also scratches and claws at me and likes to grab my nose! Nursing in public has become impossible because he really likes everyone to be aware that he is eating so he willscream at them until they look. Then hewants to show them his food aka my nipple...fun stuff!

I nurse M in the Ergo or wrap. I just pull my boob up to her and she's pinned to me do not a lot of kicking gets in the way.
