Parenting after a Loss

What happened to my happy sleeper?

I feel so bad for her. I don't know if it was the holidays, going away or what that has done a number on my poor baby.?

She went from getting a good 7-8 hours to now waking every 3 hours last night. I just don't get it. Last night I know her nose was congested & she was gassy. So that's what I'm chalking that up to.

But her quality of sleep is also worse when she is finally sleeping. I feel so bad for both of us. I get so frustrated & cranky when I haven't had sleep. Which means I'm definitely less patient all around.?She's way more cranky too which only makes it worse. ?

She naps fine during the day. I hope tonight is a better night for us.?

Re: What happened to my happy sleeper?

  • Our pedi told us that at that age a lot of time babies will do fine sleeping while you are away but then have difficulty re-adjusting to being home again.  Maybe she just needed a night to re-adjust.  You may also be approaching the 4 month wakeful period - where they are more alert and aware of their surroundings, making it harder to sleep at night.  My son was a horrible sleeper until 5 1/2 months, so I never noticed any change at 4 months (it was just bad all the time), but other people swear by it.
