Babies: 0 - 3 Months

FTM so, obviously I worry about everything.

:P
I received Baby's Butt Aid for my baby shower and I didnt look at the tube before using it. Apparently I have a tube that contains LEAD. I have only used it a handful of times and I immediately threw out the tube when I read this. My baby is only a week and a half so I worry about EVERYTHING. Has anyone experienced any adverse effects from this product? Should I be stressing about this so much?

  • Are you sure about that?  That just doesn't seem correct.  I googled that brand and the ingredients and lead does not appear.

  • Yeah, I think I must have had an older tube. Because it said it in big bold letters. :/

If it's a product marketed towards babies, then it's unlikely that one or two uses will result in immediate harm to your baby.  Lead is mostly dangerous when it accumulates in the body due to prolonged exposure.   You've stopped using it, so you should be fine from now on.   A call to the doctor wouldn't hurt, but I think you're okay.

ETA:  there such a thing as acute lead poisoning, but it takes exposure to large amount of lead...I doubt a dab of diaper cream would be enough to cause acute poisoning, even in a baby.  But again, if you're really worried, call the doctor.
