  • I take a prescription prenatal called VitaMed MD Plus. It is free with my insurance and it is a 30 day supply. I was actually worried it was going to be expensive since it was a prescription, and then I was pleasantly surprised.

I can't believe how much you are paying, that sounds so high! Is your insurance even paying any of it? Even if I were to purchase mine without insurance they wouldn't be that expensive.

  • I take a centrum multi vitamin with a Folic acid supplement. The Folic acid is less than $5 for a 90 day supply and the centrum I buy on sale plus usually have a coupon. So I would say $10 or under for a 90 day supply

  • I also have an rx. Our ins covers it so they are free.

Target brand here too - 200 pills for ~$15 I think? I take a separate DHA supplement, cvs brand. $12 for a 30 day supply but they were on clearance for $2 a box so I stocked up.

Mine are retailing for $90 and with insurance it comes to about $35. I take the new Citrinatal with extra DHA

I take the same ones. If you go to their website you can get a $20 off per refill. Mine only cost $20 with insurance and the coupon.

    Thanks, labor buddy!

  • I don't have a prescription for my prenatals... Though I do take a nutraceutical grade one. It's from Metagenics. I also take a folic acid and DHA supp. Altogether I pay about $60 a month... And that's including wholesale because I buy them directly from work.

  • I was given a prescription when I told my doctor we were ttc, she wanted me to start before pregnancy. The script was over $100 a month! I called back and they changed the prescription, so now I pay $0.

Rx prenatals have 1 mg of folic acid, OTCs have 0.8 mg. Thats what the difference is. Which is why most docs say meh.

This. My doc wanted me on a prescription bc I am AMA and had difficulty getting pregnant. Also along with CoQ10, it contains DHA. So all in one .... But still.... I've confirmed what I thought that I am paying more than anyone else.

$0. They are free at Meijer pharmacies with a prescription from an OB. They are just on auto fill and I pick them up every month.

  • Target brand. They were $8 for a bottle of 200. I also take a DHA supplement which is somewhere around $8 for 30 softgels.

  • Just $10 for 30 day supply OTC. I think they are just the one a day with the dha gels.

  • I think I get 150/$30. I take the RainbowOne Prenatals. I have found those are easy on my stomach because they are natural and food/plant based not so many chemicals. I can literally take this vitamin on an empty stomach and not get sick as apposed the RX ones I paid a shit ton of money for last pregnancy.

@mrscutforth, I do the Rainbow Light ones too; that is what I am getting from Amazon, the 150 ct for $19.

Same. Amazon subscribe and save for the win. But mine are 90ct for like $16 ish.

Mine are free. My doc prescribes them, but the pharmacy I fill them at, which is a local grocery store, fills prenatals for free. I would never have known about it, but the fertility clinic we used told me about it.
  • I have a script and they are free. Meijer pharmacy gives free prenatals with a script. Even without a script I only ever paid a few bucks for a bottle. I can't imagine paying $20 - $80 for prenatals!

  • I buy the OTC ones for $10 for a 90 day supply.

With my first pregnancy, the doc mentioned that I can get a prescription if it would be cheaper than OTC with insurance. With my copay, it wouldn't have been. Nothing was mentioned about a script this pregnancy.

  • I dont pay anything for mine. I get them from Meijer Pharmacy ( A Michigan store that is comparable to Wal-Mart). These are the ones my doc recommended and they are on the free list as long as you have an Rx for them. I am thankful after seeing how much some of you pay!
  • My doctor prescribed Prenatal Plus. I pay $4 at Wal*Mart's pharmacy every 30 days for a refill.

I pay $80 after insurance for a 30 day supply of multivitamin tablets plus DHA capsules; VitaMed Plus prescribed by my RE. After IVF and having PGAL mentality, $80 is nothing.

The folic acid is supposed to be more easily metabolized. The same RE prescribed this for a friend who he believed was having an issue with this and she was finally able to maintain a pregnancy. @lindslalala‌ I'm sure from her perspective it was more invaluable than "unicorn dust".

Nothing, but our base pharmacy just prescribes an OTC PNV.  Last pg I had a prescription (Neevo DHA) and I paid a $9 co-pay for a 90 day supply I think.

  • about $40 for 150, Rainbow light Prenatal one, they are not prescription

  • Is there a reason some of you are paying so much for vitamins? Are they made out of ground up unicorn horns or something?

Those ones were out of stock so instead I got the ones with fairy fart dust. Bootle says it will make the LO less gassy.

    :D
  • That's it .... I'm going OTC after this and for breast feeding.
