Headache and Sinus Pain

.... I rarely do this, but I am really struggling today. I have had a headache for nearly a week. It is concentrated over my left eye and hurts when I move my head quickly, and especially if fb I get up quickly or bend over.... Must be sinuses right??
I don't know what I can do or take, but it is kind of hitting a debilitating climax today... And I wanted to know if anyone else has had this experience and what happened... And when/if I should involve a medical provider... Midwife or regular doctor?
Thanks for listening... Trying not to complain, just hoping for advice...

Re: Headache and Sinus Pain

  • Can't speak specifically to your symptoms, but when I was last pregnant I had constantly blocked ears often paired with a headache. I feel like the headaches subsided in the second tri. There is a lot going on in these bodies. Good luck for a speedy resolution!

  • You can take Tylenol for the pain from the headache and Benadryl for your sinus congestion. Also increasing your water intake can help with the headache. If you do not have relief from these meds, I would call your doc/midwife and ask what they recommend. If you have any symptoms of blurred vision, fever, weakness, numbness, or unable to tolerate fluids for more than 24 hours call your doctors office. Hope that helps.

  • I had two experiences with this. First pregnancy was sick three weeks before I went to a regular doc (my midwife said to "wait it out" 10 days or so) who determined I had a massive ear infection (which manifested as a head cold, but did get to where I couldn't hear well). I got (totally pregnancy safe) antibiotics for $5 and was better in 3 days, I'd only wished I'd gone sooner.

This time I got a cold and took Sudafed and at night, Robitussin. I think both contain Tylenol and worked great. My doc recommended and I took the to the pharmacist to confirm. I was only sick about a week that time.

Anyhow my two cents, I'd take MWagner's advice, and start w your midwife but note that in my case, she kind of made assumptions and didn't really ask enough questions before deciding it just had to run its course.
