Who's still nursing?

We are still nursing with no signs of DS wanting to wean.  DS nurses when he wakes in the morning, before and after nap, and before bed.  He will take a bottle of warmed hemp milk after waking but we have not tried before nap or bed.
I'd like to wean by 2, but at this rate, I have no clue how…

If you are still nursing, what does it look like for you?

Re: Who's still nursing?

  • This kid will probably wean just in time for kindergarten, haha. She nurses about 8 times a day still and eats little, but pedi isn't concerned and thinks she'll eat more if I decide to wean. I really would just like to get us down to 3-4 times per day.

  • We are still nursing. It's down to twice a day during the week and pretty much on demand on the weekends. No signs of weaning so far. I'm not really sure how long we'll go. As long as he wants I guess.

  • We just weaned this past week, so we will see if it sticks... :-)

  • I'm not pumping at work anymore, but DD nurses CONSTANTLY when I'm at home. We nurse when I get home, before bed, and during the night (We bed share, and I sleep through it. I think she sometimes STTN and doesn't nurse until about 6:30 in the morning). She also stops by for some quick sips here and there during the evening (when she's not too busy playing). My girl loves her some boobies, and I don't think she'll self wean anytime soon. I may start wean around 2 to 2.5 years old. We'll see!

  • Still nursing here too. DD nurses 3 times a day. When she wakes up, before her nap and before we start bedtime routine. She isn't showing signs of wanting to wean either.

Still nursing here too. Only 2-3 times per day though. And when I work she doesn't get to nurse before her nap and she goes down fine. I think I actually could cut it down to just the morning and she'd be ok. She requests it less and less these days. She usually wakes between 6-7am and nurses and goes back down. I realllly don't want to cut this session out as today she nursed at 7 and slept till after 10 am!!

I would love to be weaned by 18 months but I'm afraid she'll start waking at 6 and not go back down! Plus, I think I may miss it. I like our special time together.

This for us too. I'm ready to drop the morning session though. It makes it hard to get out the door on time.

We officially stopped nursing when she turned 15 months, but she still asks for the "babas" a couple mornings a week. I let her, but she only latches on for about 3 seconds so I'm sure she's not getting any milk in that amount of time.

  • We still nurse in the morning and at bedtime, but I'm pretty sure my colostrum is coming in due to pregnancy, and DS doesn't seem to be getting much or liking it as much as he used to.  He does nuzzle my chest every night once he's in his PJs and cuddling his blanket, so he nurses, but is usually out cold after a few minutes.  I'm thinking he'll have weaned himself by the end of summer.  Now that he's walking, able to be outside, and exploring so much, he's so tired at bed time that I think he'll drop the bedtime nursing soon.  He also doesn't nurse every morning.  He's sometimes more interested in the dog or what dad's doing to worry about nursing, so then I just give him a sippy of water or milk along with some dried berries, and he's perfectly fine with that until breakfast at 9:00 am.

  • We're still nursing.  She nurses to sleep about 50% of the time, and wakes up to nurse anywhere between 1 and 3 times during the night depending on the night.  We occasionally nurse during the day (before naps, usually) on the weekend.  I'm sort of interested in weaning, but not enough to deal with the actual process of weaning.  I may get more serious about it at 18 months.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one still nursing my DS. People side eye me when they happen to hear or find out that I'm still nursing. Then I start to feel guilty like I'm doing donethibg wrong. Personally I think it's great for our babes! I will allow DS to self wean when he his ready. Right now he drinks early am, before nap, before bed and in the middle of the night, so I guess that make it four times daily. Every month around my AF he gets so frustrated and acts as if he is not getting enough but as soon as AF is gone he is fine again. He refuses WCM or any other type of milk. I'm just now getting him to finally enjoy yogurt. He loves his water and I can get him to drink orange juice on occasion. He's a boobie man! :)

  • We nurse first thing in the morning and again around 4pm. Sometimes we'll add in a mid afternoon nursing session if he's asking for "milk". I don't think he'll ever wean himself he loves to nurse and will hang on for 30 minutes or more. I almost always have to pop him off, he won't usually stop on his own and I can tell he's not eating anymore. My goal has always been to nurse until 2 but we may go over if it still works for us both.

  • Still nursing strong over here as well.  We absolutely nurse right before bedtime and nap, though thank goodness it's not nursing to sleep anymore.  That was making me crazy.  Now we nurse and then lay her down.  We always nurse when she wakes some time between 4-6.  She's actually hungry then so I don't mind.

Otherwise, when she's in the mood.  My girl is a milk addict and would probably nurse all day long if I let her.  I try to distract her rather than nurse at every request but if she insists that's fine.

Funny, she HAS to nurse every time she sees any other little one nursing.
  • We are. Morning, nap and before bed. She drinks water and WCM during the day as well.
