My SIL insisted that I need to CONTROL the size of my baby and to make sure that I have a petite baby bc their family is known for notoriously big heads. She said baby's size is a reflection of me... what mom eats/drinks/exercises. Seriously? The things that come out of her mouth. Either she only thinks about eating/exercising or she is only obsessed about it with me bc she is always commenting on my diet (and she lives on the other side of the world so has no clue how we eat). This is the same lady who told me I should eat less dairy and drink less milk bc it is high calorie. I responded, "ummm, Im lactose intolerant. I havent had a glass of milk in like 15 years."
What are YOU girls doing to "control your baby's size?" She assumes someone overweight will have big babies and smaller people will have petite babies. Such horse crap.
PS... We havent told in laws yet of LO's issues and this is why... Insensitive, uneducated, idiotic things that are said. We are going to tell MIL when we get there and let her tell everyone else while I just try and avoid SIL's sharp, critical tongue the entire trip. No matter what she will blame it on weight. She even thinks my DH (tall, fit, size 34 waist) is overweight. She also said SAHMs dont contribute and put too much burden on the husband and in Sweden they are so much more progressive bc moms dont stay at home and America is stuck in the 1950s. I told her no... Here women get a choice and are accepted either way. THAT is more progressive to me. I have gotten to a point where I just cant stand to be around her. Lord give me strength!!
FWIW I have a friend who is on a quasi-vegan, super healthy diet as part of her regimen for controlling her MS. She was pretty slender when she got pregnant with her son and kept up the diet during her pregnancy mostly eating fruits and veggies, very little processed food, etc. She ended up having a 10 1/2 pound baby.

My sister's life stresses me out. I just spent the weekend with her and couldn't wait to get home. She's a stay at home mom but doesn't keep up on housework, her place was just dirty. I love her, and she even said it stresses her out. Her husband sucks balls and is a fucking child and doesn't pick up after himself, which she hates. I hate to break it to her but that's the one you chose to marry, he's not going to change, you need to either leave him, live in his mess, or be his maid. But she's still home most days, she just doesn't keep up on it. I love my niece but being an only child she's kinda demanding in wanting/expecting attention. I pointed out to Sister if they want to have another she's going to have to get my niece to be more independent.
Her in laws suck too. They're always over to use their internet or get water from them (they have well water where they live... running water though, so we can't figure out why they come and take 4 gallons of water a day). Sister bought a used car off a friend for $500 but didn't have the money right away to get it running. her FIL up and fixes it without consulting them, then they demand the title for the car. WTF?!?! I could go on... but I just needed to vent a little...
My bitch is that summer vacation is still 46 days away.
well then my (2nd) bitch is that i dont get a summer vaca! oh unless i get fired for my first bitch
I feel for you with your work situation, I really do - it sounds like you're under a ton of colleague created stress for no good reason. But if you want summer vacation, become a teacher.
My bitch is that I decided it would be a good idea to wear a skirt since it's 86 degrees here today and I did not take into the account that my thighs seem to be growing faster then my belly. Every time I walk my thighs rub together and I feel like I am ripping layers of skin off! Looks like someone will be investing in giant tubs of baby powder this summer (
Thigh rub is my arch nemesis! I am alternating between wearing thigh high stockings pulled allllll the way up and caring around a travel size baby powder. Let me know if you have any other solutions!
@crystalangel79 your inlaws are seriously nuts. Props to you for staying patient. I hope if they have anything douchey to say about your Madeleine's issues that you or DH speaks up and loud

Body Glide! It looks like a stick of deodorant that you get at sports stores (or amazon!). I have always used it religiously on "hot spots" for long runs, but it has also been very handy for pregnancy too. I rub that stuff all over to prevent chafing!
Thank you!! I will have to try this out! I have a weird phobia of powder, I think it's a texture thing. Just the thought of touching it gives me the chills so I was really not looking forward to having to use it, but now you and a few other ladies gave me different options!
I understand exactly what you mean - I cannot touch chalk. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. Hope it helps!

Monistat makes a really good product exactly for this purpose. you can find it online if your local pharmacy doesn't carry it.
That's the Monistat product. It can be sort of hard to find. Body Glide ( a running product that somebody recommended above) works okay too, and is probably more sweat-proof, but for non-athletic occasions I prefer the Monistat product.

In theory this sounds great. LOL, but if i have a hard time keeping patience with two adults, not sure working with 25 children would be a good idea. Teachers I admire greatly because its something I couldn't do. They deserve far more than a summer break too but we won't get into that!
I'm so tired of this situation with my MIL. She blabbed our baby name on FB and to her church friends a few weeks ago because she thought we were waiting to announce it when we announced the sex. Keep in mind, we told her we were keeping the name a secret, and neither DH nor I had mentioned the name in anything we had posted. She took the post down and told her friends not to tell anyone. I thought I was over it until she decided to rehash everything yesterday, and I got emotional all over again. It's the principle of the thing: the name is ours to announce, not hers.
We've learned our lesson, though. When I go into labor, nobody but me and DH will know about it until we decide to tell anyone. Frankly, we'll probably wait until after she's born.
Ugh... that's the WORST. My MIL blabbed about my pregnancy after we specifically asked her not to... then she had the nerve to laugh about it to my mom and said that we were being silly with wanting to wait to announce.... I seriously didn't talk to her for over 2 weeks. Still irks me to think about. She has earned herself a spot on the "last to know" list and I won't be sharing my baby name with her for a good long while.

@shimmer475 - Look up Body Glide! I use it to avoid chaffing while running and this stuff is the best invention ever! No chaffing at all between my legs!!! It is heads over heels WAY better than baby powder! Trust me!

We are at 13 school days/14 work days and honestly I am not up to going back. Trying not to cry everytime someone asks me how baby is doing will be hard. Keeping composed in front of 40 very perceptive teenagers for 7 straight hrs when I tear up randomly... We'll see.
I don't envy you this Crystal - maybe it would be a good idea to have whoever is subbing for you give them a general "please don't ask mrs. Crystalslastname about the baby, that's a private matter"? I know I could not handle the random ask even if it was coming from a kind place, which in sure it would be. Hugs to you.
I am seriously over my in-laws. They are trying to turn Grandparenting into a competitive sport with my parents and they (my in-laws) are the only ones playing the game. The rest of us think they are idiots. They are on the "I could give two crap less if they know list" and I can't see them coming off of there any time in the near future.
My second bitch of the day is about my OBs office calling but not leaving a voicemail. I'm sure it was just to confirm my appointment for Thursday, but IF I get one of those calls usually they'll leave the message saying as much. My doctor said the only way SHE would call after our A/S and before our appointment this week is if something was abnormal. And the office was closed for the day by the time I got back to my desk. Fucking awesome. PGAL brain is going to be a real asshole tonight.

Gage Douglas 09.04.2014...my sunshine after the rain.
My bitch is as that I put sun tan lotion on at the beach yesterday but since I can't put it on my eyeballs, they got burned and everyone thinks I've been crying all day. I can't wear sunglasses because they give me headaches but because my eyes are burned, I've had a headache all day! Can't win either way!

I rarely wear sunglasses (they just annoy me) and I've never even heard of getting a sunburn on one's eyeballs! That sounds like it hurts. Maybe I'll rethink sunglasses...
@whitney4126 - also a lawyer and totally w/ you on all of the above. If I could only have a do-over on the whole "decision to go to law school" thing. I hope you catch the judge on a good day and all you need to say is "complicated pregnancy." Ugh. What a nightmare!
