Excuse Me While I AW My Shopping Success

The other week I bought some maternity shirts at Target because they were 40% off with Cartwheel. I thought that was an awesome deal, because as we all know maternity clothes are effing EXPENSIVE. Like seriously, Kohl's wants $50 for a pair of maternity pants. Um, no.

So anyway, today I decided to see what my local Goodwill had. Their maternity section is tiny, but I managed to find a pair of capris, a pair of jeans, two pairs of pants for work, and a shirt. And my total?

$25!

I pretty much feel like I hit the lottery.

That's good work. I still fit my regular clothes at the moment, I have a bump band so I can loosen buttons, but I'm dreading when I have to replace my wardrobe.

Most of mine still fit as well and I do have two belly bands, but they don't work with a lot of my work pants. I also feel like I'm really starting to pop so I know it's only a matter of time before nothing fits anymore, heh.

  • That's awesome! I love our local Goodwill. We live next to a super upscale lakefront community and I swear our Goodwill is like a combo of JCrew, Gap, Ralph Lauren etc... Oh and the local Target donates brand new closeout stuff like bedding and curtains... You can score some awesome stuff there. Never thought of looking for maternity stuff though. Time to see what they have!
  • The only maternity pants that fit me right are like $100. Wish I could find some at the goodwill!

    Nice finds!

I've been considering buying a bundle from ebay and just seeing if I get lucky.  For £50, which is the price of some single items, there have been some quite generous bundles on there.

Jealous! Today was a shopping fail for me - tried Target & Kohls... overpriced and no selection :( Never thought of Goodwill though!

  • The other great place is if you have a local mom to mom consignment sale, like Just Between Friends or Rhea Lana's, they usually have a maternity section. I got lots of good stuff that way last time.

  • I was able to find some pretty cheap stuff at old navy. Just wait for sales! However they do have a better selection online than in the store.
  • I bought a brand new Graco car seat from good will. The box was damaged, but the seat was in perfect condition. The cost was only $22.50. They get salvaged items from Target all the time.
  • Wow! Does everybody's goodwill have a maternity section? Haven't been yet. The first trimester yucky hasn't turned into 2nd semester feeling good yet. :)
  • One of my friends gave me a bunch of maternity clothes but right now I'm in an awkward in between stage where most of it is still way too big.  I know she got some of this stuff from someone else first, but she also told me she gained a lot during her pregnancy.  I've bought 1 pair of maternity jeans from Old Navy online (on clearance, around $20) and one pair from Target (about $25).  Any skirt I have with an elastic waistband is still working if I place it right (above or below belly).  I will need to check out Goodwill and the Salvation Army stores here!  I wonder if stores that do 2nd hand baby things might also carry some maternity clothes... hmmm....
