I am curious as to where your going to have your newborn sleeping, whether it's straight in the crib, bassinet, pack-n-play? I'm undecided and would like to hear what others are doing, thank u!
We have the cradle my uncle built for me when I was a baby. We used it for DS next to our bed until he moved to his crib by week 4. We'll do the same this time around.
Crib in her own room. Our apartment is tiny and her nursery is very close to our bedroom. I'm a very light sleeper so I know that just hearing her stirring would prohibit me from getting any minuscule amount of sleep I might otherwise get.
DD slept in the pack n play bassinet in our bedroom for the first 10ish weeks, once she started waking only 1-2x per night.
We'll do the same with this baby.
Pretty much this. DS slept in his pack 'n play in our room until he was sleeping through the night (6 - 8) hours at 2 1/2 months old. Then he moved to his crib with a video monitor.
I'm sending up serious prayers that this little cutie patootie follows her brother's sleep patterns.

Bassinet in our room for maybe the first month or so.
With DS, we tried straight to the crib from day one and it got too much for me to get in and out of bed so often during the night. The glider in his room was comfortable until I was sitting in it for hours. We moved down to the family room where he slept in the rock and play and I slept on the couch. I wanted to be comfortable while nursing and be able to watch tv.
With this baby, I'll stay in the bedroom so I can sleep in my bed. DH will probably just sleep in the guest room since he'll have to go to work and can't be up all night. We don't want DS woken up every time the baby cries either. I have a new recliner chair ordered for my bedroom so I can be comfy during late night nursing sessions.
In her crib in the bedroom next door. We will have the PnP bassinet if need be, but I am hoping that DH and/or I will get a wee bit more sleep with her next door.
We have a rock n play that DS used but hoping to use a co sleeper with new baby. He can stay in it longer and be right next to me in bed. Then hoping to transition DS out of crib when he turns 2 in Nov and baby can have his crib
RNP until she gets too big for that and then the PNP for several months. Hopefully this one will be a much better sleeper than DD1 and we can transition to the crib sooner.
PNP until she is sleeping through the night then she will be put into the crib. DS and her will be sharing a room for the time being, so she won't get the boot until she sleeps through the night.
My DD sounded like a farm animal when she slept, and no one was getting any incremental sleep, so after two days of having her in our room, we switched to the crib. It worked out much better for us this way.

In his crib! I learned the hard way with DS that a baby in our room doesn't work! My DH is an incredibly loud sleeper and kept him up! As soon as I moved him he started sleeping soundly and for longer durations!
DS still sleeps with me (I know, I know). I will more than likely have #2 in the RNP next to us since I'll be nursing. I really hope to transition her to the crib at some point and pray that she is a better "lone" sleeper than DS is. I have a king size bed, so worse case scenario, I will have plenty of room for all of us.
Pack n Play Bassinet for the first 8 weeks or so just like we did with DD (unless this LO is a noisy sleeper and/or DHs snoring keeps him from sleeping well).
It will also depend on if I am able to have a VBAC or if I need a RCS (with VBAC we may have him in his crib right from the start, but with a CS it was easier last time to have DD in our room so that DH could help me in the middle of the night for those first few weeks when moving was still a slow and painful process).
We are just going to see what works best between the crib, PNP and RNP. If the crib works, that's great. If we have to have her in our room in one of the other things, then we will go that route.
First few weeks will be bassinet in LO's room as I will sleep on the bed in there as well (it's not as high as the bed in out bedroom) Once I recover enough to be able to get into out high bed, bassinet will move into our room until about 10-12 weeks when LO will move to crib.
DS will sleep in the crib in his room. We tried DD in the pack and play in our room for a week or so last time and it was awful. No sleep really for anyone. That being said, the swing was a life saver the first 2 weeks last time and probably will be again on an as needed basis!
I planned to have LO sleep in the bassinet in his PNP - but I am hoping he will go to his crib sooner than later. I think I would keep him up and he will keep us up - so his own room might be best.
DS slept in his own room in his crib from night one. It has worked really well with us and we never had to deal with transitioning him and disrupting any sleep routine.

@livekight
She'll do great.
You need your rest so you can care for her properly.
