August 2014 Moms

Rest up!!!

Hey ladies... Yesterday I went in for my 24 week appointment and doctor informed me I was having contractions. I had no idea that's what it was! I had three within just laying there for 20 minutes, they sent me to the hospital for monitoring. Contractions continued and so then they did a vag ultrasound to check my cervix. Everything was good with my cervix. Turns out being on my feet working 65+ hours a week and not staying hydrated was more dangerous than I thought. Heads up to get plenty of rest and listen to your bodies! I didn't and ended up having a little scare yesterday.

Re: Rest up!!!

  • I hope you are feeling better!

Thanks ladies! I felt my stomach tightening and a couple sharp pains. But now I know :) I didn't know contractions could happen this early.
  • good thing you were at your doctors when it happened! I'm worried about this myself because i work a lot on my feet and have had sharp pains. I don't know what contractions feel like so I'm afraid I'll have them and not know about it

  • Eek! That's scary. The good news is that you were at the right place/ right time. I hope you rest up and hydrate this weekend!
  • I was in the hospital yesterday for dehydration too! Glad you're doing better! Drink up those fluids girl!
  • Glad everything turned out okay.  This is a good reminder for me to make sure I rest and take breaks more frequently while drinking more water!

Oh goodness I'm so glad your doctor caught it.

I've been feeling dehydrated and get pruned fingers I always drink a lot it just never seems enough, my husband is starting to nag me about resting more though. It's harder to remember on busy days at work, at least I have a desk job you ladies on your feet must be exhausted

I've had such a dramatic change in the last month. I could be on my feet a lot longer and not get sore but now after 5 hours of standing I notice my feet get sore then back follows... I will be taking more breaks and my husband has been a major help around home too :) thank goodness. By the time I get home I need to sit! I hope everyone gets enough rest and water... It isn't anything to mess around with and it can happen when your not expecting it. I'm lucky my doctor caught it!!! Now I have the fun part of tracking my contractions every hour... I also will be going to the doc every two weeks now instead of the monthly visits. Rest up mommas and happy Mother's Day :)
