How soon after c/s did you eat?

I'm so hungry but have only been allowed ice, water and some juice. I feel like I'm ready for real food but the nurses won't give me anything until the doc tells them what my diet is. It's been 20 hours but they won't hear from the doc for probably another few when she's back on duty.

When were you allowed to eat?

My C was at 9am and I had a regular dinner that night. They kept me on liquids for lunch then progressed me up to sherbet then I think mashed potatoes and as I tolerated that then they moved me to regular. 20 hours is a long time!!

It is a really long time! And I don't remember staying hungry this long with my first c/s grrr.

New nurse after the shift change just changed my diet plan so I can eat.

I don't think I ate until the next day. I wasn't in the mood for food. I was allowed water I believe. But I slept a lot. Congrats on new baby!

Mine was at 9:30 am and I was allowed crackers while I was in the recovery room. By about 6 pm I was allowed to have a regular dinner.

I had eaten at 6:30 am, was checked in at 7am and labored until my emergency c/s at 9:30 pm. I wasn't allowed to eat at all while I was checked in and after the c/s, I passed out. The dr said I could eat when he checked on me at 6:30 am. I called the kitchen and ordered and they called me back 10 minutes later saying I was on diet restriction and could only have jello. I could hear my doctor in the hallway so I got out of bed and chased him down almost crying yelling "You said I could eat!" He hadn't put the diet change in yet. He had a nurse call down to the kitchen so I could have real food. Soooo, after my novel, it was a little under 12 hours from my section.

Mine was around 11am. I got a clear liquid tray for dinner that night. The following morning I could order whatever I wanted off the menu provided I got out of bed first. Which I did.

C section was at 11 am and I was on a liquid diet until about 3 am the next morning. When you do get to eat solids do it slow. I didn't listen and threw up which hurt horribly plus then I was hungry again.

For my cs at 4am, I had a clear liquid lunch and could have real food for dinner. I ate a little that night. For my c/s at11am, I think I had a clear liquid dinner and ate normal the next day.

I just had mine 8 days ago. We scheduled it about 12hours before, was at 2pm last Thursday. I couldn't eat or drink (not even water!) from Wednesday at midnight on. I was able to have some ice chips very late Thursday night and some sips of water. I was sooooo thirsty!! I wound up throwing up that night. They then took my water away and went back to ice chips. The next morning I had some toast and water and I was fine. So from the surgery it was about 17 hours or so.

My c-section was at 7ish at night and the nurse let me have some crackers at around 11 that night. I hadn't eaten since breakfast and she took pity on me.

I had both my kids in the early morning (1:56 and 12:06 AM), threw up right after my first c/s but not at all after my second, and ate breakfast 6-8 hours after both. I think after DS it might have been a liquid diet for breakfast but back to solids pretty quickly. 20 hours is nuts.

It is nuts. Honestly, I don't think there was any reason for it aside for them being very busy and taking their sweet time changing it in the system and having the doctor approve it first

I had my daughter at 7:19pm and was able to eat crackers around 11pm. I was also a brat and complained though. :P
By the next morning I had a regular breakfast. But I'm also the nut that was up and walking by 9pm almost immediately after I could feel my legs again.

Hospital policy said I couldn't walk for 24 hours. I had a cath, an IV and this thing in my nose that beeped like crazy of it fell out. So I was stuck in that bed until I got unhooked. As soon as I got the IV out I refused narcotics and got the Motrin bc I am a fast healer and hate to be drowsy. But I could only go as fast as the hospital allowed unfortunately

I wasn't allowed to eat until 24 hours after my section because I was on magnesium sulfate for pre-eclampsia.

I had CS at 12:20 am and ate breakfast at 7. I think it depends on your doctor and how you recover. They did make me wake up at 2 and 5 to drink juice, I was completely out.

I had my c section at 9:30 am and had lunch that afternoon at 12:30/1:00 pm. They went by how I was feeling and I was not nauseous at all so they let me have food.

I was starving too! Had the cs at 2:30 and they did allow me to have a light breakfast that day but then. I wasn't given anything till late evening I think and even then it was just some dry melba toast and tea. I was ravenous and scarved down my plate of toast with jam the next morning. And the rest of the time I always atw every crumb and asked for more haha...

First CS was at 3:30pm and second CS was at 6pm...didn't have first full meal til the next morning for both. Did let me have clear liquids and crackers to tie me over. As hungry as I was before both (had to stop eating at midnight the night before both CS), I didn't feel much like eating afterwards.

Mine was at 12:44pm and I would say it was around 5ish that I actually ate. Nursed, got moved into our permanent room, had a couple visitors and then ate a grilled cheese sandwich. They had me drink some water before I left the recovery room.

I had mine in the evening. When I got our of recovery, my nurses gave me some crackers and juice. I was able to eat a normal, regular breakfast the next morning.

I ate dinner on Thursday at 7 pm. Went into labor during the night, labored all day Friday and had my c/s Friday night at 9:30. I hadn't slept since Thursday afternoon or eaten in over 26 hours by that point. Once we were in a room at 1 am, they let my husband go to the cafeteria and get a burger for me.

I was on an IV and ice water for the first 24 hours. Good thing I was because coming off of morphine was making me throw up and itch like hell. After the pulled the catheter and I was up and walking, they let me eat. At least if I needed to use the restroom (read: poop) I could go from eating.

I went in on a Wed night and was given a clear diet from then until Saturday morning... My first meal was hospital french toast and bran cereal... and it was the MOST DELICIOUS THING I HAD EVER EATEN!!!!!!!

It depends. It's been a while since my csection but I didn't get Sid food for about 24 hours. I was in a liquid diet though, but I wanted so much more than broth. I pretty much went almost 3 days without food as I was induced and laboured for 33 hours before csection was decided upon.

Baby was born at 7:45 am. As soon as I was in recovery they gave me some crackers and at lunch I was told to order whatever I wanted.

C-section was at 3:45pm they offered me some soup at midnight but sleep>food. I was starving but hadn't slept in 36 hours. I ended up inhaling breakfast they brought me the next morning at about 7am.

24 hours I was on liquid til the next morning but it was because I could not pass gas. After my first two it was only about 8 hours BUT I puked both times so a was way more cautious this time.

After my CS with DD1, I was SO sick. I finally convinced the nurse to bring me some crackers and a sugar free jello about 10 hours after surgery. I told her I'd stop throwing up if I could just get a little food in my system. Sure enough, I stopped being sick after a few bites. I had to pass gas before I got an actual meal. I think by lunch the next day, I was eating normally again.

My c/s was at about 9am. It was an emergency, so I had had a full breakfast that morning. I didn't eat until supper around 5 or 6 pm. They only let me have a bun and some chicken stew, not much else.

I had mine @9:30 am by 12:00 noon i was eating mexican food from my favorite reasturant my sis brought me.i was cleared to eat whatever i wanted right after recovery for 2 hours.

Can someone bring you food? They didn't want me to eat for a long time after either but I still did. 12 hours later I ordered and ate a full breakfast. I can't stand to be hungry so I broke some rules.

This makes me so mad. I am so mad if I don't eat I get sick. Husband already knows if they say no again this time I will cheat and eat behind their backs again.
