Hi ladies, 

My name is Kerri & my husband & I are TTC #2!  I was diagnosed with PCOS while TTC #1 about 8 years ago (our son is 4).  We were successful with Clomid during round 3 (after taking a break break the year before after 4 cycles).  We just finished our 1st round of Letrozole (5 mgs), but were not successful.  I'm torn between trying Letrozole again & going back to Clomid (it worked before, so why not?).  My doctor feels like we have a better shot with Letrozole, but I'm not terribly familiar with it & don't know anyone who has taken it before.  We didn't need any other interventions besides medication last time so I'm curious if anyone is just doing meds/or has just done meds to get pregnant.  I'm especially curious about thoughts on Letrozole (I also take 1500 mgs of Metformin a day).  Thanks for any help/advice you can give me!

    Hi @ksolds, welcome to the group.  I also have PCOS.  I took clomid when ttc my son and it didn't work out for me.  I conceived him by holistic methods.  I don't want to wait around for the holistic stuff to kick in this round, so I'm looking to do medicated cycles as well.  I don't know much about Letrozole, though, so I'm no help in that regard.  I will probably do femera, fwiw.  

    Good luck whichever route you take.

    DS weaned in April 2014
    Taking a break from herbs and just riding the healthy train.  
    Planning medicated cycle end of summer.  FX I get KU before then!!!

    Femara and letrozole are the same thing.  I will say that my RE is a big fan of "Go with the voodoo that worked"  So I would probably go back to clomid if possible.

    Thanks lady! I think we have decided to try one more round of Letrozole & if it doesn't work this time, we will go back to Clomid. Good luck to y'all!

    Hi @ksolds Welcome to the group. Hope you don't have to stay here long. I have PCOS too. I conceived my daughter on clomid but it has not worked for me this time. I don't know about you but it gives me serious emotional issues and rage. I prefer letrozol for that reason but (obviously since I'm still here) neither has yet worked for me. They seem to have about the same results as far as egg production, but if I had to be on clomid for many more cycles I wouldn't be having a baby because I would be getting a divorce.

    Hello and welcome to the group.  I also have PCOS but we have MF issues as well, so it's IVF for us and I don't know much about the meds you referenced.  I wish you the best of luck!

    Welcome!  I did a round of femara last cycle for my first IUI and it was unsuccessful although I did respond really well to it.  I took it CD 5-9 and had 2 awesome looking follies and a bunch of smaller ones.  I have a severely low AMH though so just because I produce follies doesn't mean there is an egg inside :(  Best of luck!!!

    BFP #2 1/28/14--MC 2/7/14
    IUI #1 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #2 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IUI #3 5mg Femara + trigger = BFN
    IVF #1, Stimmed for 12 days, ER 8/22/14, 9 retrieved, 7M, 7F!!  Freeze all due to fluid in uterus.
    FET end of October 2014 cancelled due to fluid in uterus due to possible c-scar defect
    Surgery scheduled 12/12/14 to fix possible isthmocele
    3/26/15 transferred one 8 cell grade 4 embryo and one 6 cell grade 3 embryo = slow rising betas for 2+ weeks = ectopic MTX shot 4/29/15
    Repeat c-scar surgery June 2015
    2nd and last IVF cycle August 2015, stimmed for 12 days, 2 egg retrieved, both mature and both fertilized.  Transferred both 8-cell embryos on Day 3, beta 9/5/15 = BFFN
    MOVING TO ADOPTION!
